The Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEICI)

was established in 1958 as a non-profit organization by the government of Israel and the private sector. IEICI promotes Israeli goods and services exports, and trade relations, cooperation and strategic alliances with overseas companies. IEICI provides services to thousands of Israeli exporters.

IEICI promotes exports through international initiatives and unique programs in many countries, operating through official representatives of Israel – commercial and economic attachés - as well as local business development representatives.

IEICI maintains working relations with foreign diplomats and commercial attachés stationed in Israel, and international trade organizations throughout the world. IEICI provides information and consulting services, offering extensive connections and assistance in promoting exports of Israeli companies as well as complementary services for the international business community. IEICI initiates and organizes incoming and outgoing commercial delegations. It also mounts national pavilions and information centers at international exhibitions and conventions throughout the world, at which it presents Israel’s export capabilities.

Heads of Business Organizations Israel Business Delegation to Africa

Ofer Sachs is Chief Executive Officer of The Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute, a position he has held since 2012.

He was formerly Director of the Center for International Agricultural Development Cooperation, a unit of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and, as Agriculture Attaché of Israel’s Mission to the EU, was senior partner in the negotiations leading to the agricultural trade agreement between Israel and the European Communities.

He also represented Israel at World Trade Organization discussions in Geneva, and as the official representative of Israel to the OECD Committee for Agriculture. Earlier, Ofer Sachs headed the Aquaculture Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Eli Avidar is the president of the Israel-Africa Chamber of Commerce since 2012, after serving as a member of the board for 4 years.

An Africa specialist who maintains good ties with several African leaders as well as extensive know how in the political seen of London, Washington, Beijing and their influence on Africa.

He is the Managing Director of the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) Group of Companies, who has had a productive career in Israel’s Intelligence Force as well in Israel's Foreign Service, in the course of which he has gained an extensive knowledge of three major regions: the USA, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

In 2012 he was called to join the Gertler Group and was appointed as CEO of Azura Consulting that provides management services to the group. The group has major mining assets in the Democratic Republic of Congo and interests in other African countries.

He is a member of the board and the presidential council of the World Jewelry Federation – CIBJO.

Amir was born in Tel-Aviv (1955) to the late co-founder of the Amit Group: A. Shani. He joined the Amit Group at 1977 and worked his way up through every professional position there.

He did an apprenticeship at Panalpina World Transport (1979) and graduated the Lahav Program for Management Marketing & Advertising in Tel-Aviv University (1984). That brought him forward to the management position. He is both a licensed Customs Broker and a licensed Forwarder in Israel.

After the death of his father A. Shani, the co-founder of the Amit Group, he became the Group Co-Manager Director (1986). He is the representative for the Group in the other diverse areas. He sits as a Board Director or Shareholders Representative or Managing Director on all related company divisions including – General Cargo, Insurance, Courier Express, Software Development, Outbound Air and Sea Consolidation, Shipping Line Agreements, and Real Estate & Property Development.

Israel Business Delegation to AfricaAgro-technologiesThe industry of agricultural inputs in Israel is one of the pioneers and leaders of the industries in Israel. This industry, which is characterized by intensive research and development of innovative systems, developed mainly due to the need to overcome the adverse climate and the existing shortage of land and water.

The Agriculture Sector in the Israel Export Institute works to strengthen ties and cooperation in existing markets, as well as bargain and penetrate new markets. The Sector helps in finding new niches activity (dairy industry, family agriculture in developing countries), maintaining the reputation of the Israeli agriculture industry, training and assistance to exporters and international organizations activities in the areas of agriculture and water (ICID).

DekelOil

Company at a GlanceDekelOil is a large-scale Palm Oil production operation, located in the Ivory Coast. The Company operates a 60 ton per hour Crude Palm Oil (CPO) extraction mill, able to produce up to 70,000 tons of CPO annually; the feed stock supply comes from cooperatives and small holders in the region and from 2,000 hectares of company plantations. The company also operates a modern computerized oil palm nursery, based on Israeli technology, with a capacity of 1 million plants per year; the nursery supports the planting needs of the small holders in the region as well as the on-going development of company’s plantations.

Technology & ProductsThe company produces Crude Palm Oil and Palm Kernel. Palm oil is the most widely used edible oil in the word. It is used in hundreds of food products including cooking oil, ice cream, chocolate and noodles. Food use currently accounts for an estimated 80% of total demand, although demand for palm oil as a low cost feedstock for the biodiesel sector is growing fast.In West Africa Palm Oil is a basic food product and there is a deficit of palm oil in the region estimated at approximately 600,000 tons annually. Being one of the developing regions in the world this deficit is increasing rapidly.The Plant is designed according to best modern technologies, including implementation of an advance effluent treatment plant, which is in line of the company commitment to operate in an environment friendly manner.
