And Central College London Programmes:BA (Hons) Innovation and Strategic ManagementMSc Innovation, Management and Strategy

Central College London - BackgroundCentral College London is a recently es-tablished college (April 2009) that strives to provide exemplary facilities for both its students and staff in Ealing, West London.

Central College London holds an A Rated Tier 4 Sponsor License with the UK Border Agency and is currently applying for both Highly Trusted Status and QAA accredita-tion in line with recent UKBA immigration requirements for the sponsorship of interna-tional students.

We are a partner institution of the Univer-sity of West London and are articulated with the University of Teesside, fully accredited by ASIC and an approved center of Edexcel and NCFE for the delivery of a variety of courses in the areas of Business and Health-care.

At present, 441 students are registered with Central College London within our subject areas of Business, Health and Language Studies. These student numbers can be further identified as percentages of our total student population.

CCL has well established links in the Chinese, Taiwanese and Hong Kong markets both locally and internationally and has access to an extensive network of agents within these and other South East Asian markets. Our proximity to the international student community in London demonstrates that we are well placed to recruit students from an increasingly wide range of international backgrounds.

Central College London is owned and directed by Mr. Kai Dai, an advocate of Higher Education holding multiple degrees and educational awards from institutions including those in China, Hong Kong, Ireland and England. Mr. Dai has many years of extensive experience in the field of interna-tional education as he founded and directed

Shutong Education Centre in Shenyang, China in 1999 – a highly successful training centre and brand under the direction of Mr. Dai until its’ merger with a large scale national education and training institution 6 years later.

Central College London is situated at an ideal location in West London within easy access to tube and train lines, bus routes, open green spaces and a variety of amenities such as shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. There is a rolling programme of acquisitions of additional units at the College’s address of Walpole Court – at present the College holds eight class-

rooms with a capacity to accommodate 25 to 80 students in each.

The college currently employs an academic team of 12 academic staff alongside an ad-ministrative team of 15. A staffing increase is anticipated in January 2012 in response to a projected increase in student recruitment.

Rationale for the Proposed Partnership between Glyndwr University and Central College LondonAlthough the College is at an early stage of its development, its foundation has been based upon an investment in quality. This is illustrated by the acquisition and development of a prime location site for the college in West London and the complete renovation of the student and staff learning and working environments. The key appointments within the College structure demonstrate that experienced, well qualified staff have been appointed to ensure that the quality assurance systems are appropriate for higher education in the UK. The ethos of the College is to develop an appropriate collegiate ap-proach to the provision of higher education in the private sector. The planned growth of the College demonstrates the solid strategic judgment that has been exercised in this provision of private higher educa-tion in London, where a multitude of international students wish to study. Not all the College’s aspirations have been achieved to-date but the planned expansion of the College will provide the resources to accomplish this. This will be of great benefit to the students, the College and its partners as well as our local community.

The Market relevant to these programmesOverall the College is confident that it is fully capable of delivering the collaboration and has identified markets to make the collaboration vi-able.The collaboration will have two student markets •China + Rest of Asia •International students resident in the UKChina, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines are the markets in which CCL has considerable experience and a well-developed network of agents and other contacts. The college employs six full time direct marketing staff with an in depth knowledge of these markets that are responsible for responding to queries as a result of advertising and personal referrals as well as to maintain and develop long term relationships with agents in all of our key markets.CCL is confident that an aggressive marketing strategy could rapidly produce a large number of students for these proposed programmes but nevertheless would wish to proceed with caution in the early stages of the collaboration. Therefore, in the first year of operation for our BA Top Up programmes we have set student registration targets at circa 100, split between two intakes (January and September). We expect that these programmes will generate a gross revenue of circa £675,000 p.a. (100 X £6750). In the first year of operation for our MSc Innovation, Management and Strategy programme we are anticipating student registrations at circa 100, split between two intakes ( January and September). We expect that this programme will generate a gross revenue of circa £750,000 p.a. (100 X £7500).The projected numbers of students are realistic and achievable and are based on a plan of sustainable growth. We are planning for a conservative recruitment level in each course in the initial phase of delivery to bed down the programmes and to ensure quality of delivery. In subsequent years we would confidently expect to recruit in excess of 240 students to the programmes generating gross revenues of circa £1.65 million p.a.
