Microenterprise & Food, Food Ingredients, and Prepared Food TaxIndividuals who make an investment in personnel or depreciable assets for a small business can receive up to $10,000 as a refundable income tax credit! This seminar benefits anyone who is starting or growing a small business of five or fewer full-time equivalent employees. Preparers obtain valuable information they can use to benefit their clients. Discussion includes the types of investment that qualify, how to apply and later claim the credit, and use of the applicable forms. The second part of this afternoon session provides detailed instruction about the sales tax regulations for food, food ingredients, and prepared food. Anyone who sells food items benefits from this class, including bakeries, caterers, concessionaires, bars, coffee shops, convenience stores, restaurants, and the professionals who handle their bookkeeping. The class starts with the basics and then moves on to more complex issues like the 75 percent rule. Application of the regulations to specific situations are discussed. But if you could make that picture stick up out of the paper, then it would have thickness, a third dimension, as well.
