The students (and teach- ers) were very excited to see some local wildlife on the walk down. Working Bee The first working bee last Sunday was a very suc- cessful morning with grass planted, trees lopped, drains cleaned and many more important jobs. Thank you to all the parents who came along and especially coordinator Malcolm Ricketts who organised pur- chase of the grass and always brings his entire work- shop of tools and special equipment!! Thanks also to the parents who donated the delicious morning tea. Coles Dockets for Sport Equipment This week we received a great deal of sporting equip- ment which was in return for our Coles dockets which parents brought in last year. Well done to all parents for your support and thanks to Mrs O’Grady for organ- ising the order. We will display some of the new equipment at the 9.00am assembly tomorrow. Anzac Day Services Yesterday four of our leaders, Daisy, Jessie, James and Will travelled to Hyde Park for an education de- partment Anzac service. Special thanks to Tarni Nankervis for accompanying the students. On Anzac Day a number of senior students will be marching as part of the Manly Council event and we hope many families may attend the dawn service at Manly Dam from 5.30am. Next term on Friday 29 April we will be having an Anzac service at school. Ticks Please be extra vigilant during tick season. Many par- ents and children have found numerous small grass ticks lately. Please be advised that the office will not remove ticks but will ring parents. This is standard policy as when a tick is removed children can some- times have an allergic reaction. Farewell Michelle Gibson Today we farewell Mi- chelle Gibson who will soon be having her third child. Best wishes for the exciting time ahead Michelle. We welcome back Christie Turner who will be teaching RFF ( Release from face to face ) each Thursday. Road Safety Update Our Safety Rangers continue to take note of positive parent and children behaviour before and after school. Super kids will be awarded at assembly. The Rangers are also recording examples of unsafe traffic move- ments. Once again I appreciate the efforts of par- ents not to use the car park in the afternoon. The congestion has been greatly reduced, and conse- quently our children and community are a lot safer!! Walk Safely to School Day – Friday 20 May Hopefully many children and parents can meet in the park on King Street for the walk to school on Friday 20 May. More details soon. Demountable Movements Today a fence was erected around the old demount- able admin and the old 5/6M classroom. Over the holi- days we hope these buildings will be removed and the area restored. MANLY VALE OSHC NEWS

This week the children have been involved in a variety of art and craft activi-ties including Easter collage, cooking pancakes and conducting crazy science experiments. We have also been practicing our gymnastics skills on the mats in the hall and practicing our dance skills with musical games.

We have received positive responses back from the Active After Schools pro-gram survey this term and will be continuing with this program in Term 2. Based on feedback from parents we are hoping to participate in Tae Kwon Do, Frisbee and Tennis sessions. Due to a change in Australian Sports Commis-sion policy the planned bookings for next term are currently unconfirmed, so session details will be available in week 1.

The Easter Vacation Care program still has spaces available. In Centre days include Messy craft, Camping day, Disney day, A day in Brazil and a Mad Hatters Tea Party. Planned excursions for this Vacation Care are: Mystery Day excursion, Skating rink, Collaroy beach and Movies at the mall. If you would like to book in please come in and collect a form or you can contact us by email (below) for more information. There are still places available for both our morning and afternoon sessions during the term. You can enrol for a cas-ual session or to attend one of our club days each week on a permanent ba-sis. You can enrol now for term 2. Fees are subsidised by Childcare Benefit. Please come in and see us, email us on [email protected] or call the Centre on 0430 369 288; we would love to meet you and your child! We’d like to wish everyone a safe and happy Easter break and we look for-ward to seeing you in term 2.
