As a maritime hub city in Northeast Asia, which connects the New Northern Economic Bloc
comprising China, Russia, and Central Asia, and the New Southern Economic Bloc consisting of India
and Southeast Asia, Busan has carried out city diplomacy through sister or friendship cooperation
agreements with 37 cities in 27 countries.
BIFC, the most capable public agency for the globalization of Busan, has been overseeing over 40
projects a year following the strategic vision of Busan. Please inspire BFIC with ongoing interest and
participation to successfully guide the globalization of Busan.
This year, BFIC has committed to working on behalf of Busan, a global maritime capital that shines
throughout the world, and to enhancing the diversity of local Busan culture as it embraces people
from all over the world.

Establishment
BFIC was established on November 25th, 2005, and opened to the public on February 28th,
2006, based on the Act on the Establishment and Management Support of Busan Foundation for
International Cooperation (No. 4012).
BFIC is a nonprofit foundation based on the Civil Code Act 32.
