PROBLEM SUMMARY Traveling is a large growing business in India and other countries. Bus Ticket reservation system deals with maintenance of records of details of each passenger who had reserved a seat for a journey. It also includes maintenance of information like schedule and details of each bus. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM The system is Bus Ticket Reservation System. This is the project on the online ticketing system of Bus Company, which in most cases; the company has problems with their ticketing and scheduling process. This project intends to computerize its semi computerized ticketing system to provide better customer service. Because of that, the company can provide the easier way of traveling to the customer or passenger. Electronic tickets, or e-tickets, give evidence that their holders have permission to enter a place of entertainment, use a means of transportation, or have access to some Internet services. Bus Ticket Reservation System enables the bus company's customer to book bus ticket online. E-ticket is the easier and quickest way to take bus. Currently, staff at the bus ticket counter is using an internal system to sell ticket at the counter. Customer is unable to book bus ticket online at this moment and has to go to the counter to book bus ticket. Sometimes, customer needs to queue up a long queue to book bus ticket and ask for information. Besides that, customer also not allows booking bus ticket through telephone and telephone line is always busy. This brings a lot of inconvenience to the customers Bus Ticket Reservation System enables the customer to book bus ticket, make payment, and ask for information online easily. Further more, staff can sell bus ticket using Bus Ticket Reservation System after check bus ticket availability for the customer and print the bus ticket to the customer that queue up in the counter. Management of RoutesThis module include information about how we can Manage the routes for a particular bus services so In the case of Route management module we must know the details about route number, number of stops ,fare stages and running time of the particular bus more over we want to manipulate and stored these information successfully.2. Bus DetailIn this module all bus details are stored and manipulated. It contains minimum charge, type, total seats, bus number, and passenger’s states (child or adult) are manipulate and stored.3. Bus StopsBus Stops module includes information about what are the main bus stops of a particular bus. This module connected to the route of the bus and it is used to store stop number, stop name and fare stages and Route number4. Bus Ticketing

Ticketing is the most important module in this Project which uses all the tables together and calculates fare for the passengers. It is done using the route number, bus type, beginning stop, end stop, ticket number, persons (Adult/child) rate, date and time and tickets are produced.5. Passenger DetailsIn this module all passenger details are stored and manipulated. It contains passenger number, name, address, contact no, email id etc.

Existing System

System that are using by the staff at the counter currently is an internal system and just used to sell the bus ticket at the counter. Customer has to go to the counter to book bus ticket or ask for bus schedule. Further more, customers need to pay cash when they book the bus ticket and sometimes needs to queue up long time to get the bus ticket.Besides that, customer is also not allowed to book bus ticket through telephone and the bus company's telephone line is always busy.The method to solve this problem is to create an online booking bus ticket system. Customer can book the bus ticket over the Internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the bus ticket can't be lost, stolen or left behind. In addition, the online system lets the customers check the availability of the bus ticket before they book bus ticket.

Disadvantages of current system:-

The following problems were faced when the system was studied.

Existing system is totally on book and thus a great amount of manual work

has to be done. The amount of manual work increases exponentially with

increase in bus services.

Needs a lot of working staff and extra attention on all the records.

In existing system, there are various problems like keeping records of items,

seats available, prices of per/seat and fixing bill generation on each bill.

Finding out details regarding any information is very difficult, as the user has

to go through all the books manually.

Major problem was the lack of security.

Customer has to stand in a queue to book the ticket.

Customer has to come to the office to get the timings and the schedule of the

particular bus.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

PROPOSED SYSTEM

Company's customer can book bus ticket online. Others bus companies also can use the online system to easy their customer to book bus ticket. Further more, the online

system is expected to help ease especially the counter staff at the selling counter who has to deal with numerous sales daily. It should also assist the branch manager in calculating their daily collections and generating reports. In the long-term operation, the sales of tickets are expected to increase as passengers' satisfaction is almost guaranteed with the availability of accurate information, shorter queues and better services.

Proposed System feature:-

To provide a web-based booking bus ticket functions. Customer can book bus ticket through the online system and no need to queue up to book bus ticket in the counter.

To provide anytime anyplace service for the customer. Customer can book bus ticket 24 hours a day, 7 days a week over the Internet.

To enable customer to check the availability of the bus ticket online. Customer can check the time departure and arrival for every bus through the system.

To minimize the number of staff at the ticket box. The numbers of staff at the counter can be reduced after the online booking bus ticket system launch.

Availability of seats can be enquired very easily. Passengers can also cancel their tickets easily. Ensure data accuracy. Records are efficiently maintained by DBMS. DBMS also provides security for the information.
