Dear HCE Friends,
This spring and summer have been beautiful for us this year with lots of rain to bring colorful growing flowers. Today seventeen large Canada Geese were swimming down our river. The woods look like a jungle with so many leaves. We have been busy keeping our bird feeders filled with sunflower seeds, grape jelly, and cooking sugar water for our hummingbirds. Our deer enjoy swimming and eating grasses and wild rice. One day mama bear and her babies visited. The mama scared herself when she saw her reflection in our lower level windows! She quickly climbed up our rock walls. Her twins followed their mom and they were confused too. Then they figured out how to run down the driveway. Dale missed all the action. He was birding at Crex Meadows. No pictures this time! I staying in the house and watched the bears. Our HCE members are busy entertaining family and friends this summer. When school starts our homes will be quiet. The days, weeks, and months go so fast. Now I see leaves are falling from the birch trees. Colored leaves are very beautiful in the fall but I am sad to see bare trees for seven months. Thanks to God he gave us the pines and spruce trees so we can appreciate green needles during our winter.
- Your HCE Friend,
Muriel Anderson

I'm not sure where the summer went but fall is my favorite season so I welcome it. I like fall because…
kids get to feel older when they start a new school year being in a higher grade. They may get to do more things and make a new start.
I get to see the beautifully colored leaves that swirl around and crunch under my feet.
We get to start a new 4-H year on October 1st.
We get to start our Early Readers program with Tribal Head Start and Mina Copeland Head Start in October. If you're interested in reading please contact Judy Marek.
This year we get to celebrate our daughter Emma’s 1st birthday on October 5th! I think this is my favorite reason to like fall! Let’s just hope for nice weather during her party so we can enjoy time outside with friends and family.
When I see you next, please share with me what your favorite season is and why.
