MICHIGAN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT LICENSING GUIDE ELIGIBILITY FOR LICENSING

• Complete a baccalaureate degree or master’s degree from a program accredited by the American society of landscape architects (ASLA).

• Complete 3 years of professional experience in the practice of landscape architecture, if a baccalaureate degree is possessed or complete 2 years of professional experience in the practice of landscape architecture, if a master’s degree is possessed. Landscape architect experience is documented by not less than 5

references from persons having knowledge of the applicant’s experience. Not less than 3 of the references shall be from registered/licensed landscape architects.

• Establish a Council of Landscape Architects Registration Boards (CLARB) Council Record. The cost is $150.

• Complete the Landscape Architecture Registration Examination (LARE) administered through the Council of Landscape Architects Registration Boards (CLARB). The total cost of the examination is $1,780 for the four-part examination.

• Submit a Landscape Architect License Application found at www.michigan.gov/landscapearcitects. Applicants must be of good moral character. The fee due at the time of

application is $260.
