Dear Families,

Welcome to Week 11 our final week for Term 1. Everyone here is really missing the kids, it is very quiet and

feels empty without all of them. Bunmurra is still under construction and the colourful soft fall will be

something exciting for the kids to look forward to coming back to school. We will post pictures once it is

complete.

This continues to be a very hard time. Hard for the kids, hard for families and hard for teachers and staff. Whilst

there are many different expectations and we don’t have all the issues ironed out yet, we are working on it.

Our teachers have had to learn new skills overnight to transition online and continue to do so. It’s only been

just over a week now and everyone is still learning. We are reviewing our systems, this is new territory and we

will make adjustments as we learn.

I’d like to reinforce our consistent message that there is no expectation to complete all of the tasks and no,

children should not be sitting in front of a screen for hours on end. As parents and carers, you are the best

judge of your child’s wellbeing and I encourage each of you to only do what comfortably works within your

families limits. This has affected all families differently and whether you have completed not much at all, a little

or a lot that’s perfectly ok and you are all doing a wonderful job.

In this newsletter you will find a long list of wellbeing resources that you can access if need be. This list has

been provided to us though our school counselling services.

Teachers have spent many hours this week calling home to check in with their students and families.

This week we trialled our first K-2 virtual assembly, we have a bee gif and are now able to award virtual bees

and have drawn our winners this morning.

Monday 27 April is a SDD which will take place online for staff. Learning for Students will resume on Tuesday 28

April at this point in time we will be resuming Term 2 under the current home learning online arrangements.

Be kind to yourselves and each other. Everyone is exhausted and the upcoming holiday period will be a good

time to rest and recharge.

Library

Dear families,

At Hazelbrook PS we are ensuring learning from anywhere is continued and that students have access to resources. Those students who are at school continue to have access to the physical library during their lesson time. Our students who are learning from home and online can also access our school library.

Students may place loan requests by email, phone to the school or by making a reservation on Oliver library. Books can be returned through the return slot in the library and reservations collected at the library circulation desk on a Friday by the student or a family member. Students can loan up to 10 books, but not in a series.

Students can access Oliver by logging onto their Dept student portal and clicking on the Oliver Library tab, on the left side of the page, below their email. Oliver Library will open on either the Oliver or Orbit homepage. Students wanting to search from the Orbit homepage will need to click on the Orbit tab, in the top right corner, next to the logout tab. Once on the homepage, they can search for their book, click on the title and click on the reserve tab. This is the lock icon beneath the thumbnail on the right.

Alternately, they can join the HPS Library Google Classroom and request a book or discuss a book. The code will be shared in their class google classroom.

• Collection days are Wednesday and Thursdays.

• Please use the internal Library door, access via year 1 classrooms from the quad.

• Please practice good hygiene

• Please be patient with us, as some books that you have requested have not yet been cov-ered and you will be notified when they are ready through the HPS Google Classroom.

• If you have books to return, please place then in the return slot at the circulation desk.
