The SHIP BUNKER CALCULATION is a fourth generation Integrated software package for the Ship’s Bunker calculation of a Cargo and Tanker Ship. The package is a menu driven and does not require any previous experience on the use of computers. The BUNKER CALCULATION has been designed and is ideally suited to assist ship’s officers for the Ship’s Bunker calculation of a Cargo and Tanker Ship.

START : Each time you switch on your computer and when the WINDOWS are loaded .Follow the procedure described below in order to execute the Bunker Calculation program. From the Desktop find the icon shown bellow then,

1. Double click this icon in the case NO icon displayed then follow the procedure described below

2. Click at the Start button where the Start Window Menu will be displayed.

2. Click the Programs where the following Window will appear

3. At the title XpZakosBunkerSurvey move the mouse pointer until you see the title Bunker Calcs then press the ENTER key or click with mouse in order to start the program.

GENERAL RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS: Before proceeding to the instructions necessary to each screen the following basic functions are considered important and should be memorised. The Cursor key movements and Function keys:

CLICK : Press and release the left mouse button. A click is used to select an item on the screen. ENTRIES: Input screens are designed so that the user is free to move the cursor to any position using the arrows and make an entry. Mistakes: Illegal entries are not accepted by your system rejection is followed by a characteristic beeper alarm. SCREENS: The user communicates with the system through a number of screens. According to the functions they perform screen are divided in the following 3 categories: A. Control Screen is: the MAIN MENU Using the mouse the user may select the desired system function. All the input screens have the following characteristics: - They have a standard format. - Arrows may be used to select required position (full screen editing). - Each entry is validated and accepted or rejected accordingly. - Guiding messages always appear at the screen's Message Window. 7 ΜΑΙΝ ΜΕΝU SCREEN : On the top of the screen appears the ( Main Menu ) with the five (4) horizontal selections and 13 icons as shown in the following illustration:

Main Menu Toolbar To select a menu title or an icon move the mouse so the tip of the mouse pointer usually an arrow is on the name of a Menu title or an icon you want to select. Quickly press and release the left mouse button. WINDOW MENU SELECTION: A Window Menu will display a list of selections as shown in the following illustration:

10 FILE MENU : From the ( Main Menu ) point the mouse on the ( File ) selection, and click the mouse the following Window will appear. The File menu selections are :

Infos: Type various calc informations from the following selections : Job Infos, Ship Data, Calc Infos, F.O Report / D.O Report, Arrival / Sailing Reports Remarks : You must type all the calc. informations required at ( Infos ) in order to proceed

Info : Type various calc informations from the following selections : Bunker ASTM Table, Various Calc. informations Note : Only in this table ( Bunker Info ) you may select ASTM Table

Bunker’s Type Tank input informations from the following selections: F.O Report / D.O Report, Arrival / Sailing Reports Once you have finish typying each tank ( Sound/Ullage, Density and Temperature ). When the above selection are completed the computer automatically will calculate GSV and MT for that particular tank. Tools: Various calculation Tools from the following selections

11 MAIN SCREEN: The following screen will appear when the program starts.

12 PROGRAM EXECUTION PROCEDURE: The following procedure should be kept for the correct program execution: A: from INFOS : Type various calc informations This is the most important part of the Oil Calculation Β: from BUNKER’S : Type Tank input informations from the following selections: Ship Bunker F.O. Report Ship Bunker D.O. Report Ship Bunker Arrival Report Ship Bunker Sailing Report When the above procedures (A) and (B) are completed the computer automatically will calculate the Bunker for each tank The folowing example will help to understand he correct program execution. 1. IFO380 F.O. Dens. @ 15°c = 0.9906 2. MGO D.O. Dens. @ 15°c = 0.8490 Remarks : For your first calculation you must check and type the correct names for Surveyor / Form’s Titles in table SET TITLE NAMES. see page 40 The examples that will be shown and described are hypothetical and do NOT correspont to the ship’s tank ullage and tank ullage volumes from the Tank Sound/Ullage Tables. The example bellow is refered for a Demo Vessel Only in Input fieldswith the light blue color you will be able to type.

then click the mouse and the following Window will appear

The above Table contains all the Forms and Reports of the Bunker Calculation.To select the the Report which you intend to type or view then move the mouse pointer at the title button then click to make the selection. When exit from the selection you had made then you will return to this screen. Click at the ( Close ) button to return to MAIN SCREEN Note : When calculation completed you will be able to save current calculation as an Excel report.

15 2. EDIT SHIP INFOS : From the ( BUNKER MENU ) point the mouse on the icon bellow

then click the mouse and the following window will appear.

Tank Data Input Procedure: Entering this table for first time all input column fields will be empty. For each FO/DO Tank enter at the appropriate column the folowing inputs which have been obtained from Ullage / Sounding TankTables. Only columns with the Very Light Blue color can be typed. Type FO/DO Tank names e.g. L.S.H.F.O.T. (P) ( 1 to 20 characters allowed ) Type Only ( 1 ) the first character for the meassurament method to use for the FO/DO Tanks e.g. Type ( U ) for Ullage or ( S ) for Sound or ( G ) for Gauge

By typying those FO/DO Tank Data you will avoid to retype the tank data in case you will work with the same vessel. Just you have to load the ship’s data as described in page 33 The procedure described above will be carried out so many times as the number of the calculating tanks. When all entries have been completed then return to BUNKER MENU and continue to the next page

16 3. EDIT CALC INFOS : From the ( BUNKER MENU ) point the mouse on the icon bellow

for acceptable value(s) or informations concerning that particular field. If all informations have completed then proceed to the next step selecting button ( F.O. Report ) or ( D.O. Report ) or ( Arrival Report ) or ( Sailing Report ) from the BUNKER MENU.

In case you select new Table e.g. T- 6B then the following message will appear.

Selecting the button ( Yes ) all the Report Calculations for will be initialized and you have to repeat

the procedure. If all informations have been completed correctly then move to the next step selecting the Report button for ( F.O. Report ) or ( D.O. Report ) or ( Arrival / Sailing Report ) from the BUNKER MENU. In case informations have NOT completed the following message will appear to the above Reports.

taken during Before/After Tank measurement. When the cursor moved to the required field that field will be colored with the Very Light Blue color . For each field you try to type you may observe a message that appears at Message Window to advise you for acceptable value(s) or informations concerning that particular field. BEFORE και AFTER SURVEY : Must type Date, Time, Drafts ( Fwd / Aft ), and Heel as well ( for port heel e.g. 1.2° type -1.2 ). If Drafts and Heel Not typed all table cells will be locked.

19 SEA CONDITION : Type ( SEA CONDITION ) only 13 characters allowed or click at this icon Or right click the mouse

Note : In order to display the above window you must click OR the coursor must be set in the column field ( Sea Condition ) where you want to make the entry then right click the mouse. TRIM CORRECTION : Type ( TRIM CORRECTION ) only 4 characters allowed or click at this icon or right click the mouse

20 Tank Data Input Procedure: For each Cargo Tank enter at the appropriate column the folowing inputs which have been obtained during tank meassurament. The columns with the Very Light Blue color can be typed and message will be displayed in the Message Window OBS ULLAGE / SOUND : Type the ( ULG/SDG ) which have been obtained during tank meassurament OR you may type a max. of 10 characters e.g. Empty. In this example the ullage found to be 240 cm for L.S.H.F.O.T. (P) Type : 240 Note : Cms units have been selected from Ullage / Sound Units in the JOB INFO Table The Formtat will be ( M.cms = 0.000 ) for ( cms = 0.0 ) for ( Ft.inch = 0.000 ) for ( Inch = 0.0 ) For Ullage Input in Ft.inch e.g. 5’ 05.5’’ must type as 5.055 and for Inch e.g. 1.8’’ must type as 0.018 The program will check for the correct input in Ft.inch ( if inches are more than 11’’ e.g. 5’ 12.5’’ ) If not then warning message will appear. If No ( Corr’d ) typed then the program automaticaly will display the same ullage value in the Column ( Corr’d ) e.g. 240.0 CORR’D : Type the Total Corr’n which have been obtained from the Ullage Table ( for Trim and Heel corrections ) If No ( Corr’d ) value typed then type the same Obs.ullage value in the Column ( Corr’d ) e.g. 240.0 T.O.V. m3 : Type the ( T.O.V. ) which have been obtained from the Ullage Table In this example the ullage found to be 267.950 m3. Type : 257.95 FW Dip : Type the FW Dip ( in Cm ) which have been obtained during tank meassurament OR you may type a max. of 4 characters e.g. Traces ή NIL ή N/A. In this example NIL typed for L.S.H.F.O.T. (P) FW.Volume m3 : Type the ( FW Vol. ) which have been obtained from the Ullage Table In this example the No volume found. Density at 15°C : Type the Density value for FO/DO @ 15C e.g. 0.9869 If for any reason you want change the value of the Density you may type the new one at the appropriate tank

21 Obs.Temp (°C) : Assumed Observed FO Temperature = 34.0C then type 34.0 The system automatically will calculate the temperature conversion according the selected ASTM-IP Table. for Tables 6B, T24B Temperatures should be taken in Celsius (F) during tank meassurament. for Tables T54B Temperatures should be taken in Celsius (C) during tank meassurament. The procedure described above will be carried out so many times as the number of the calculating tanks. When all entries have been completed and return to MAIN MENU the system automatically will calculate the FO/DO quantity in every tank. The following Screen will be displayed when entries completed.

Entries values less or greater than those displayed in the Message Window for each column are not accepted by the system. Rejection is followed by a message

REPORTS ) at the first part of the table you will type tank meassurament for ( BEFORE ) and the second part of the table for ( AFTER ). meassurament Use those reports when you Survey Receiving Bunkers. For (ARRIVAL / SAILING REPORTS ) at the first part of the table you will type tank meassurament for ( F.O. Tanks ) and the second part of the table for ( D.O. Tanks ). Use those reports when you Survey an Arrival or a Sailing Vessel.

28 AVERAGE GRAV / TEMP : Click the ( TOOLS ) then point the mouse on the icon bellow


Procedure : Select Average Mode one of the 3 selection of the Select Average clicking the appropriate button e.g. in this example we selected API 60F. Start typying the columns ( Volume & Gravity API 60F ) and the API Average will be displayed. The procedure described above will be carried out so many times as you wish (1 to 40 ). Example : In order to find the Average Density to use after bunkering proceeds as follows : The example shown below is from the F.O. Report page 22.

1. When the ( Report’s AFTER Part ) typying completd do the following calculation :

BEFORE TOTAL GOV = 689.90 m3 Av.Density = 0.9904 CONSUMPTION VOL = - 12.79 m3 BEFORE NET GOV = 677.11 m3 BEFORE NET GOV = 677.11 m3 AFTER TOTAL GOV = 6239.40 m3 RECEIVED GOV = 5562.29 m3

At the next step click this ico or click button and type the following as shown at bellow screen.

UNIT CONVERSION : From the ( TOOLBAR ) point the mouse on the icon bellow

Unit Conversion Procedure : Select Conversion Mode one of the 6 selection of the Select Conversions clicking the appropriate button e.g. in this example we selected Length. Start typying the Unit value in the column METERS Input . Moving the cursor at that cell column METERS Input with a Very Light Blue color and start typying the Unit value. Then, move the cursor to another cell in order the Results will be displayed. The procedure described above will be carried out so many times as you wish.

SAVE CALCULATION FILE : The system automaticaly saves the current calculation after typying any new or changing data. This will occur when we create a new calculation and when the procedure JOB Infos see page 9 is completed and exit the following Window Screen will appear:

type the file name you wish to save then ( Click the button Save ) Remarks : DO NOT Type the following characters when typying the File Name ( . / \ ) or space If for any reason a File with the same name exists e.g. ( BJOB-2009-0001 ) type (BJOB-2009-0001A ) DO NOT Change the ( BJOB-xxxx – xxxx ) as BJOB = Bunker Job xxxx = Job Year xxxx = Job Number Pay attention that the program assigns automatically the Extension of the File (*.Bsv ). Therefore DO NOT type this File Extension otherwise you will NOT be able to Load this File. If for any reason you wish to abort the operation then, just click the Cancel button.

SAVING A FILE WITH DIFFERENT NAME : Clicking at the File the following Window Screen will appear:

Click the Save As then follow the procedure described in page 31

Move the mouse pointer at File Name row you wish to Load the stored file then click the OK button.

If for any reason you wish to abort the operation then, just click the Cancel button.

35 EXPORT CALC FILE : To Export a callculated file From the Main Menu move the mouse pointer at the ( File ) selection then click where the following Window Screen will appear:

Click to send the Excel file to Desktop then click the OK button The same file is saved at the root directory as seen below C:\Program Files\XpZakosBunkerSurvey\Excel

42 UNLOCK EXCEL : In order to unlock the calculated ( Excel ) spreadsheet do as follows :

1. Click at Tools 2. Click at Protection 3. Click at Unprotect Sheet ..

Use your Logo to attach into the Excel’s exported calculation in order to be displayed.
