Bullying
What are the different ways people can be bullied?
How can this affect the people involved?
What is bullying?Bullying is unwanted behaviour which hurts someone else, either physical or emotionally. The behaviour is repeated or has the potential to be repeated. Repeated teasing can be a form of bullying too. This can be upsetting for the person that is being teased.
Bullying can make people feel sad, hurt and other emotions.
Have a think about a time when you may have felt one of these emotions what did you do about it?
It’s important to remember that we are all different. Being different to someone else makes you special and we are all different in many ways.
Whether it is name calling, teasing or hurting someone physically, bullying is not acceptable in any form.
Bullying is an action that is repeated and happens several times. If someone calls you a name, this is not very nice but if they KEEP calling you names everyday, or everytime they see you... this is bullying. Although someone calling you a name once is not nice, this is not bullying.
Remember if someone is being unkind to you it is always best to let an adult know.
What strategies can we use if we feel we are being bullied?
What can we do to support someone we feel is being bullied?
What support networks may look likeA support network is a group of people who provide practical and emotional support when someone is in difficulty.
Examples of support networks:
Friends, Family, Teachers, Other Adults you trust, Anti-Bullying club or virtual support such as childline.
Have a look at the scenarios below and decide what you could do if you saw this happening?
What would you do?
Who would you speak to?
Virtual/ Cyber bullying is the term for when someone is being bullied on the internet, phone or via other technology devices.
This can happen by text message, prank calls or on chat rooms and apps on your phone or tablet.
Remember an adult needs to know if you have an app you can talk to people on.

An anti-bullying poster
Create a poster to remind people to talk & share with their support network.
Create a fact file similar to the one on this page.
