Following t h i s mi l i t a ry d r i l l , emergency drills - consis t ing of f i r e , c o l l i s i o n and abandon ship - a r e held. Conditions aboard ship a r e simulated as much as possible and it would su rp r i se many o f f i c e r s t o sce how valuab!.e, fo r ins'truct,-ional p r p o s o s , 8 well-simulated d r i l l i n an armory can be ma.de.
Following mergency d r i l l s , various men a re picked a t random from the d iv i s ion and are examined. i n t h e i r knowledge of f irst aid.
Fol3oaing t h i s , the engineers are sen t t o classroom i n s truc- Lion. The deck f o r m a r e d r i l l e d a t knot t ing and spl ic ing, gun d r i l l , loading d r i l l , radio d r i l l , and signal d r i l l , and aye then sen t t o clasoroom ins t ruc t ion .

The var ious groups of classroom ins t . ruc t ion arc attended by tbe Board, and uwfu l suggestions a r c given to increase the effi- ciency of methods mployed. o f t he insDectLon.
