Panama Head Coach Reynaldo Ortega: “I want to thank God, fi rst of all. And I congratulate Honduras for playing hard. I am pleased with today’s win and especially with our team’s blocking and a acks. We need to work a li le more on the defensive side.”

Panama Captain Joanna Arroyo: “I feel really good. Our team played together today. We came with an objec ve and I think we accomplished it, in spite of our down side in the second game. I have to congratulate the Honduras team. I know they had a lot of obstacles to get here. But they s ll played hard. I have to give double congratula ons to my team. We had six months of prac ce leading up to this game and we are happy to get the win. We are happy for our coach, who trained us. We are now ready for the United States tomorrow.”

Honduras Head Coach Marcos Tejada: “It was 30 hours to get here (due to the travel delays with the fi res in Honduras). We were here for only three hours before playing our match and our precision was not there in pass, block and spike. It took a li le of our confi dence because we were red. Tomorrow we will play be er and give our best we can and have fewer errors.”

Honduras Captain Estela Duron: “I think the team coming in two pieces with travel delays made this an exhaus ng trip. This was a factor in us not giving 100 percent. We hope to get be er for tomorrow, have a be er game and give our best.”

We got the ji ers out the fi rst set and then kind of got on a roll. (Coach Hunt) told us to go out there and have some fun. Don’t take this team lightly. Go out there and play USA Volleyball, what we’ve been training for. Go out there and play for each other.”

United States Head Coach David Hunt: “Since I started working with them two weeks ago they have been excited and ready to play. A lot of things tac cally that we were trying to do that they have been im-plemen ng the last eight weeks, they were able to do that. Guatemala Head Coach David Aldana Perez: “The most important thing is for us to play together in this classifi ca on. Just playing here in the United States together is a great opportunity. Even though we’re not as strong a team as the United States, I am very proud of my team, especially when we scored 18 points in the second set. “

Guatemala Captain Diana Arias: “Our team has not really had the chance to play together leading up to this tournament. And playing in the high al tude was a challenge, also. But even though we lost today, I thought we played well together. “
