With the support from the government of Tomohon city, Tomohon International Bridge Tournament will be an annual championship which will be held in conjunction with the Tomohon International Flower Festival. This championship is held as part of the government’s efforts to improve sports

achievements, especially Bridge because North Sulawesi has the most Bridge players and is the most developed in Indonesia in terms of Bridge sports, and Tomohon is an integral part.

On the last day of the championship, players can watch the flower carnival that is participated by various cities in Indonesia and several countries. This Tomohon International Flower Festival was first held on February 8th, 2006 , with the aim of promoting and introducing the wealth of art and culture and tourism in the City of Tomohon in the eyes of Indonesia and the world.

Tomohon is a very sporty city that has excellent Bridge athletes and others in its history as well as today. The tournament will be organized and conducted to the satisfaction of both supporters and athletes.

Beside coming to the Tomohon International Bridge Tournament, please do take some time to visit our city center as well as our beautiful natural scenery of Tomohon. I’m sure the time you spend in our city will be one of those wonderful memories that you will never forget.

1ST TOMOHON INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE TOURNAMENT

Jauh sebelum pengukuhan panitia, persiapan Tomohon International Bridge Tournament sudah dilakukan, pengurus Gabungan Bridge Kota Tomohon yan dipimpin

oleh Ir. Josias Ngantung bersama dengan Pengurus KONI maupun Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Kota Tomohon bahkan sejak Oktober 2018 sudah melakukan pertemuan dengan pihak Kementrian Pemuda dan Olahraga Republik Indonesia membahas perencanaan even ini.

Turnamen ini bahkan mendapat sambutan yang sangat baik oleh Pengurus Besar Gabungan Bridge Seluruh Indonesia (GABSI) ketika panitia beraudiensi dengan ketua umum PB GABSI, Prof Miranda S. Goeltom, SE, MA, Ph.D di awal Februari 2019. Ketua umum yang baru terpilih melalui Kongres GABSI bulan Desember 2018 ini bahkan merasa sangat senang dan mendukung ide penyelenggaraan turnamen ini.

Sport tourism saat ini menjadi sektor yang pertumbuhannya tercepat di Indonesia sehingga penyelenggaraan Tomohon International Bridge Tournament yang menjadi satu paket kegiatan dengan Tomohon International Flower Festival diyakini menjadi terobosan yang sangat baik untuk kemajuan sektor kepariwisataan dan olah-raga di kota Tomohon.

Tercatat seluruh daerah yang dikenal memiliki atlit Bridge tangguh mengirimkan perwakilannya pada tur-namen ini seperti Jakarta, Jambi, Kalimantan Timur, Gorontalo, hingga Papua yang akan menjadi tuan rumah PON 2020. Oleh seluruh peserta, ajang ini dijadikan pemanasan menjelan Pra PON Papua 2020 mendatang.“Kami sudah berusaha mempersiapkan penyelenggaraan turnamen ini dengan sebaik yang kami bisa, semo-ga seluruh partisipan merasakan kesan yang baik selama kejuaraan berlansung”, ungkap ketua panitia Drs. Florensianus Ventje Karundeng yang juga menjabat Kepala Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Kota Tomohon.

Tomohon City Tour

Yesterday, Sunday, 5th of August, the Tomohon City Tour took place taking the committee, Djarum Bridge Club, along with the group from Balikpapan to visit three fascinating places in Tomohon. Check it out!

We started leaving the Babe Palar Sport Hall at 1 pm using busWe visited Bukit Doa or translated as the Hill of Prayer. This hill is located right under the foot of Mount Mahawu, so it has cool air and beautiful nature typical of the mountain atmosphere. Then we went to the lake that exudes three colours of beauty, Linow Lake. The word Linow is taken

from the Minahasa language that is Lilinowan which means a gathering place for water. In this lake, we can see the color of water that can change colors to green, blue and brownish yellow. Changes occur because the element of sulfur buried in the lake and refraction and reflection of sunlight that causes the color of the water in Lake Linow can change.



Finally, the last place where we got the chance to see how wonderful Tomohon is was Lokon View.

Not only enjoying the view, there is lounge where peo-ple can enjoy the live music, taste the best coffee and pisang goroho here.

From the main road, we walked for about 1 km before reaching the Lokon View. Some of our participants chose to give up :) You can get the fresh air while walking to the Lokon View which you might not get in your city of origin.

Pada meja lainnya, pasangan dari New Chi mencapai kontrak 4♥ yang berkesempatan mati pada permainan defense yang jeli. Bambang mulai lead dengan diamond kecil yang diambil oleh declarer dengan ace, dilanjutkan dengan diamond ruff di tangan declarer. Huang kemudian keluar dengan ♥10, yang arah M Apin Nurhalim, apa kartu yang sebaiknya ia keluarkan, menang dengan ♥K atau

duck?

Mari kita coba analisa kartu di dummy. Setelah declarer main diamond ruff pada trick kedua, semua kartu diamond di meja telah menjadi winner. Sekarang tinggal bagaimana defender menggagalkan semua diamond di meja untuk menjadi trick. Satu-satunya entry declarer di meja adalah heart dan declarer hanya dapat menikmati diamond setelah trump di luar habis tercabut sehingga satu-satunya cara yang dapat dilakukan defender adalah memaksa dummy untuk ruff club. Tentu saja apabila declarer punya ♣A, maka kontrak memang tidak bisa mati.

Sayangnya M Apin Nurhalim gagal melihat peluang ini sehingga ia memilih bermain duck. Declarer yang tetap melanjutkan heart, setelah melihat Utara discard, segera menang dengan ♥A dan cash diamond di meja. Defender kini tak berdaya dan hanya mampu menang ♠A sehingga kontrak bikin 5, +450.

Pada papan terakhir, Indonesia berhasil menambah 6 IMPs untuk mengurangi angka kekalahan, dengan skor akhir, 39-29, atau 13.18 – 6.82 VP untuk kemenangan New Chi.

At the last round of qualifying section of Manado Fiesta Bridge Tournament 2019 which was held at Manado two days before, Raewaya1 had no issue to qualify for the final (even though they got 0) but PraPON Gorontalo was just lucky enough as they were 0.83 VP ahead of the 9th-placed teams. Anyway, the first match of final round which took place in the round robin format showed Raewaya1, the team who consisted of 3 senior players who will be the delegation of Indonesia to participate the World Bridge Championship in Wuhan, this September 2019.

The first board was a flat board which both teams bid the routine 3NT and made, and so was the board 2, but the critical situation seemed to arise starting from board 3.

Pusung with his eleven cards of minor definitely did not want to miss to bid the rare unusual 2NT. After Manoppo bid the 4♣ cue to show something extra and short in club, Tugiman should have been careful as he only had 3 clubs facing his partner who might have 5 clubs as well. However, as he still boldly went into the competition by bidding the 5♣, Lasut was very welcome to double. When the dust settled, declarer only got 6 tricks for four down, -1100.

4♠ here clearly was not an issue after a heart lead to the ♥K and ♥A, and Mario returned with a diamond. During the play, Harke mistakenly discarded clubs two times so declarer had no loser on club. It meant two overtricks or 12 IMPs swing for Raewaya1 who led by 13-0.

After the similar auction, 1♦ – 1♠ – 1NT showing 12-14, Manoppo did not want to pursue the game but Jujen did not agree and got rewarded with the game bonus, 1NT making 3, and 3NT making 4, so 7 IMPs went to PraPON Gorontalo. So the first match of final came out to be a draw, 23-21 IMP or 10.71 – 9.29 VP for the winning of Raewaya1.
