    FOCUS: KEEPING FIRST THINGS FIRST

Message 3 of 5 A People Portfolio:Investing in Your Primary Relationships

    TODAYS KEY BIBLE PASSAGES:

Mark 3:13-14, 13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came tohim. 14 He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out topreach. (NIV)

Acts 4:13, When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinarymen, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. (NIV)

A LISTENING GUIDE FOR TODAYS MESSAGE:

Main idea: Many of us are committed to investing for our financial futures wi th diversified stockportfolios. But what about our people portfolios? Jesus teaches us that an even more significant andlonger lasting investment is in our primary relationships and shows us what it looks like to build theserelationship portfolios, where the investment strategy is not diversification, but focus. In other words, when investing in people, deep is better than wide. In relationships, maybe we should put all of oureggs in one basket. After all, although Jesus ministeredto the masses, he investedin just a few.

    II. Share _____________________ Together.

    III. Go _____________________.

A Challenge: Decide who is in your__________________ and__________________ in them.

    QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION & DISCUSSION:

    1) Who are the few in whom God has called you to invest relationally?

    2) What are doing in an intentional, practical way to share your life with these few?3) How deep into the heart have you ventured with your few? What would it look like for you to go deeper

into the heart as you invest your life in a few?
