We are meeting this Sunday at 10 A.M. at Valley Christian School (1350 Discovery St., San Marcos). We hope you can join us in person. Revelation 2:18-29 (ESV) - 18 “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: ‘The words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze. 19 “‘I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first. 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, 23 and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works. 24 But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan, to you I say, I do not lay on you any other burden. 25 Only hold fast what you have until I come. 26 The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations, 27 and he will rule[c] them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received authority from my Father. 28 And I will give him the morning star. 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

1. Jesus COMMENDS our faithfulness. (Rev. 2:19).

Revelation 2:19 (ESV) – 19 “‘I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first.

1 Corinthians 3:6-7 (ESV)6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor

he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

2. Jesus CHALLENGES the church to acknowledge sin (Rev. 2:20-21).

Revelation 2:20-21 (ESV) – 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality.

3. Jesus JUDGES those who compromise (Rev. 2: 22-23a).

Revelation 2:22-23a (ESV) – 22 Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, 23 and I will strike her children dead.

4. Jesus judges with PERFECTjudgment (Rev. 2: 23b).

Revelation 2:23b (ESV) – . . .Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

5. Jesus ENCOURAGES His church to hang on! (Rev. 2:24-25).

Revelation 2:24-25 (ESV) – 24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not impose any other burden on you, 25 except to hold on to what you have until I come.’

6. Jesus REWARDS those who endure with Himself. (Rev. 2:26-29).

Revelation 2:26-29 (ESV) – 26 To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations— 27 that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’—just as I have received authority from my Father. 28 I will also give that one the morning star. 29 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Psalm 2:8-9 (ESV)8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your

heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod

of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.”

Revelation 22:16 (ESV)“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright

morning star.”
