the Roman (and later on of the Early Byzant ine) townof No ve (1st century) - animportant strate gic centrewith na val funct ions.

The town reached an en viablede velopment dur ing the 19 thcentury in sp ite of its completedestruct ion dur ing the Russ ian-Turk ish War of 1810 . In 1865 D r.Ivan Bo goro v descr ibed S vishto vas the most commerc ial place of our towns.
