Of those patients, 2,344 (29%) were children 12 or under, who were brought by their parents from as far as 50 miles so they could see a doctor—most for the first time. Our temporary staff of 180 Ugandan medical professionals, with help from some additional volunteers, provided a range of needed medical treatments, services, and public health workshops for a cost of only $3.84 per patient served. Once again, no one was turned away. Our Mbale team administered 412 immunizations and 165 cervical cancer screenings, while 101 patients tested positive for HIV. We performed 262 surgical procedures, including delivering 25 babies, ten by C-section. We also continue to provide Christian counseling for patients who are in emotional or physical pain.
