Kata Pengantar Assalammualaikum dan Salam sejahtera Para Pelajar, Saya sebagai Ketua Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal amat berbesar hati dan mengalu-alukan kedatangan anda semua ke Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah khususnya Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal. Kami berasa bertuah dapat membantu anda untuk menuju masa hadapan yang lebih gemilang dan cemerlang. Di politeknik ini terutama sekali di Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal kami menawarkan kepada anda pengalaman pendidikan secara holistik melalui pelbagai kaedah dan cara pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang efektif dan berinovatif. Dengan bantuan tenaga pengajar yang bertauliah dan mempunyai kepakaran di dalam bidang masing-masing, anda akan menerima dan mengalami suasana pembelajaran yang dapat menyediakan dan menjadikan anda mampu untuk menulis, berfikir secara kritikal, kemampuan untuk menganalisis dan menjadikan diri anda seorang yang lebih efektif untuk menempuh alam pekerjaan dan seterusnya menjadikan anda mempunyai keyakinan yang tinggi, pakar rujuk yang baik dan berkemampuan untuk menjadi penyampai yang baik seterusnya menjadi aset yang penting bagi sebarang organisasi yang terdapat di negara kita. Saya juga menggalakkan anda untuk mengambil peluang dan menggunakan sepenuhnya kelebihan dan kemudahan pembelajaran yang terdapat di POLISAS ini terutamanya di Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal. Kami menyediakan kemudahan makmal dan bengkel yang lengkap dan juga berteknologi tinggi untuk tujuan pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang efektif. Di jabatan ini terdapat organisasi pelajar yang dikenali sebagai Kelab Mechy yang dikhususkan untuk semua para pelajar mekanikal. Penglibatan anda di dalam aktiviti yang dianjurkan oleh kelab ini dapat meningkatkan kemahiran insaniah untuk menyediakan diri anda menghadapi alam pekerjaan. Kami yakin anda dapat menyesuaikan diri di sini dan sentiasa meletakkan jabatan ini dekat di hati anda dan seterusnya komited untuk mendukung dan menyokong misi dan visi POLISAS. Di dalam buku panduan ini anda didedahkan dengan segala informasi mengenai polisi dan prosedur yang merangkumi keseluruhan komponen kursus yang ditawarkan oleh POLISAS dan Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal secara khususnya. 1. Pengenalan
Buku Panduan Pelajar ini merupakan rujukan utama untuk semua pelajar Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (POLISAS) Kuantan, Pahang. Buku Panduan Pelajar ini telah direkabentuk sebagai garis panduan akademik pelajar bagi melengkapi semester pengajian masing-masing. Maklumat yang terkandung di dalam Buku Panduan Pelajar ini adalah menepati keperluan MQA bagi sesi semasa. Kemudahan fizikal dan sokongan untuk pelajar sepanjang pengajian di POLISAS juga telah disertakan bagi memudahkan para pelajar untuk merasai pengalaman belajar dengan semaksimum yang mungkin di kampus. Walau bagaimanapun, sebarang perubahan akan dikemaskini dari semasa ke semasa.Terima kasih di atas sokongan semua.
2. Misi dan Visi Politeknik Malaysia

Penjana utama modal insan inovatif melalui pendidikan transformational bagi memenuhi keperluan tenaga kerja global.

Menerobos sempadan untuk membina persekitaran pembelajaran transformatif dan kreatif ke arah menjana ekonomi yang dipimpin inovasi.

● Pemberian perkhidmatan separa profesional dilaksanakan memenuhi piawaian yang telah ditetapkan dalam dasar kualiti.

wawasan Negara.
3. Sistem Gred
Sistem penilaian Politeknik Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi adalah kaedah penilaian kuantitatif prestasi pelajar di dalam sesuatu program yang dikenali sebagai Sistem Nilaian Mata (SNM). Mengikut SNM, prestasi pelajar bagi sesuatu kursus adalah berdasarkan kepada Sistem Gred yang mana pencapaian pelajar dinilai menggunakan dua ukuran iaitu :
● Purata Nilaian Mata (PNM) atau Grade Point Average (GPA) ● Himpunan Purata Nilaian Mata (HPNM) atau Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

Markah yang diperolehi oleh pelajar di dalam sesuatu kursus akan diberi nilai mata dan gred mengikut kumpulan seperti di dalam jadual.

4. Pembelajaran Berasaskan Hasil (Outcome-Based Education - OBE)
Pembelajaran berasaskan hasil adalah penyataan yang menjelaskan apa yang pelajar harus tahu, faham dan boleh lakukan setelah selesai suatu tempoh pengajian. Pembelajaran berasaskan hasil merupakan rujukan bagi standard dan kualiti serta pembangunan kurikulum dari segi pembelajaran dan pengajaran, penetapan kredit dan penilaian pelajar. Kebaikan pembelajaran berasaskan hasil adalah penekanannya kepada pelajar dan pembelajaran (berpusatkan pelajar) serta pencapaiannya bukan semata-mata cara mencapainya. Justeru itu, kaedah pencapaian hasil pembelajaran tidak terhad kepada pendidikan formal sahaja dan terbuka kepada penaksiran Pengakreditan Pengalaman Pembelajaran Terkumpul ( Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning, APEL) yang diperoleh melalui pembelajaran formal dan tidak formal. Ia juga menyediakan para pelajar dengan pengalaman pembelajaran yang sesuai serta mempunyai tujuan dan peluang kepada para pelajar untuk mengasahkan bakat, mempunyai keyakinan diri, berdikari, berilmu, berkemahiran, menjadi bangsa yang kaya moraliti dan modal insan minda kelas pertama bertaraf dunia.

Definisi Outcome Based Education [OBE]
Proses Akreditasi
Hasil Pembelajaran
OBE adalah proses pendidikan yang
memfokuskan pada apa yang pelajar boleh lakukan atau kualiti yang mereka perlu
hasilkan selepas mereka di ajar
OBE melibatkan penstrukturan semula
kurikulum, penilaian dan laporan praktikal di dalam
pendidikan untuk mencerminkan pencapaian
dalam pendidikan tinggi dan penguasaan.
Kedua-dua struktur dan kurikulum di reka untuk mencapai kemampuan
dan kualiti yang dikehendaki
Tidak menggalakkan pendekatan pendidikan
tradisional yang berdasarkan kepada fakta

Kesan OBE Terhadap Pengajaran Dan Pembelajaran
Kredit ialah ukuran kuantitatif yang melambangkan volum pembelajaran atau beban pembelajaran untuk mencapai hasil pembelajaran tertentu. Beban pembelajaran ialah ukuran kuantitatif semua aktiviti pembelajaran yang diperlukan untuk mencapai satu set hasil pembelajaran. Aktiviti ini termasuklah kuliah, tutorial, seminar, praktikal, pembelajaran kendiri, pencarian maklumat, kajian, kerja lapangan serta persediaan dan menduduki peperiksaan. Di Malaysia, 40 jam pembelajaran nosional dinilai sebagai satu (1) kredit. Sistem kredit dan beban pembelajaran ini telah juga diguna pakai dalam kerangka kelayakan England, Wales dan Northern Ireland serta Australia, New Zealand dan Eropah. Makna dan kefahaman yang sama membantu dalam perbandingan pelbagai kerangka kelayakan kebangsaan, memudahkan mobiliti pelajar, menyokong pembangunan kurikulum dan memudahkan pengiktirafan di peringkat antarabangsa.

Programme Overview

Ia diwujudkan pada tahun 1979 seiring dengan penubuhan Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (POLISAS). Jabatan ini mempunyai tiga lokasi utama iaitu 2 pejabat di tempatkan di bangunan pentadbiran POLISAS manakala sebuah lagi ditempatkan di Pusat Komputer JMSK yang berdekatan dengan bangunan Kejuruteraan Elektrik . JMSK diterajui oleh seorang ketua Jabatan dan dibantu oleh 3 orang ketua kursus iaitu Ketua Kursus Matematik, Ketua Kursus Sains dan Ketua Kursus Komputer. Sehingga kini, seramai 41 pensyarah yang berkelayakan dan dibantu oleh seorang pembantu makmal sains, dua orang juruteknik dan seorang pembantu tadbir ditugaskan untuk menjalankan proses P&P serta pengurusan di JMSK. Fasiliti yang terdapat d JMSK ialah 5 buah makmal Komputer, dua buah makmal Sains, dua buah makmal matematik(mathlab) dan tiga buah bilik kuliah. JMSK bertanggungjawab meyelaras semua kursus Matematik, Sains dan Komputer di POLISAS. Sehingga kini, kursus yang ditawarkan adalah merangkumi 6 kursus bagi Matematik Kejuruteraan, satu kursus bagi Sains dan 2 kursus bagi Komputer. Penawaran sesuatu kursus juga adalah berdasarkan kepada keperluan semasa oleh jabatan–jabatan induk.
Kemudahan Yang Disediakan
Makmal Komputer Terdapat 5 buah makmal komputer di JMSK untuk membolehkan proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran dapat dilaksanakan dengan berkesan dan sistematik. Makmal-makmal ini dilengkapi dengan perkakasan dan perisian komputer bersesuaian dengan kurikulum semasa. Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi maklumat, komputer-komputer berkenaan dihubungi antara satu sama lain melalui satu Sistem Rangkaian Setempat (LAN) dan disediakan kemudahan capaian Internet. Disamping itu makmal komputer ini juga digunakan sebagai tempat memberi latihan kepada tenaga pengajar POLISAS untuk meningkatkan kemahiran. Makmal Matematik Makmal ini digunakan untuk aktiviti pengajaran dan pembelajaran dalam kursus Matematik khasnya yang berkaitan dengan perisian. Perisian yang digunakan dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran itu dapat membantu pelajar memahami konsep dan prinsip matematik dengan mudah dan berkesan. Makmal Matematik juga dapat menjadikan pembelajaran matematik menjadi lebih menarik, seterusnya mendorong minat pelajar terhadap kursus Matematik disamping dapat membekalkan maklumat kepada pelajar tentang teknologi terkini dalam pembelajaran Matematik. Penggunaan perisian Matematik ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pencapaian pelajar di dalam mata pelajaran Matematik.
Makmal Sains Kejuruteraan Jabatan ini mempunyai 2 buah makmal Sains Juruteknik yang lengkap untuk pelajar menjalankan ujikaji. Melalui amali yang dijalankan pelajar mengaitkan hubungan antara teori

dan amali seterusnya pelajar dapat menambahkan ilmu pengetahuan dan kefahaman terhadap kursus tersebut.
7.2. Jabatan Pengajian Am (JPA)
Jabatan Pengajian Am ditubuhkan dengan objektif untuk membantu Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Kuantan memperkenalkan kepada semua pelajar akan kepentingan dan nilai-nilai rohaniah, kemanusiaan, dan nilai kemurnian insan sejagat dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat yang bermaruah di samping menitikberatkan kepentingan penggunaan Bahasa Inggeris dari aspek kemahiran lisan (pertuturan dan komunikasi) dan kemahiran bertulis yang perlu dikuasai oleh setiap pelajar bagi membolehkannya berfungsi secara efektif dalam konteks kerjayanya kelak. Setiap manusia tidak dapat mengelakkan dirinya daripada berhubung dan berinteraksi sesama manusia di dalam kehidupan hariannya. Oleh itu, hubungan kemanusiaan melalui aspek inter-personal dan intra-personal merupakan suatu seni kemahiran dan seni yang di dalamnya dapat menilai kemanusiaan seseorang insan. Akhlak dan tindak-tanduk seseorang tidak dapat didik melalui pendidikan teknikal dan kemahiran pakar semata-mata tetapi kosong tanpa nilai-nilai rohaniah dan kemanusiaan. Sesuatu bangsa yang maju dalam bidang sains dan teknologi tetapi membelakangkan aspek akhlak dan kemanusiaan tidak ada kemuliaan dan kebaikan bagi bangsa tersebut bahkan dipandang sebagai suatu bangsa yang tidak bertamadun dan tidak bermaruah. Oleh itu, Jabatan Pengajian Am berfungsi sebagai pelengkap kepada semua jabatan di Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah dalam membantu para pelajar mengisi kekosongan rohaniah dan nilai kemanusiaan sedapat mungkin dalam ruang vakuum yang paling minima dan terhad. Jabatan ini mempunyai kerunikannya yang tersendiri kerana walaupun ia tidak ada seorang pun pelajar seperti jabatan-jabatan lain, JPA mengendalikan kursus-kursus bukan bidang kejuruteraan untuk semua jabatan di POLISAS.
Kemudahan Yang Disediakan Makmal Bahasa Makmal bahasa diwujubkan untuk menolong pelajar-pelajar mempelajari dan mengamalkan Bahasa Inggeris secara cekap dalam keadaan formal dan tidak formal. Ia juga bertujuan untuk memperbaiki kemahiran sebutan dan kebolehan memahami Bahasa Inggeris secara lisan dan membolehkan pelajar-pelajar berkomunikasi. Pada bulan Januari Tahun 2003, Bahagian Bahasa Inggeris, Jabatan Pengajian Am memiliki 3 makmal bahasa yang baru yang dilengkapi dengan peralatan moden. Ketiga-tiga makmal tersebut terletak bangunan Kampus 2 di bilik C201, C-301 dan C-401. Makmal-makmal bahasa ini menggunakan sistem kawalan berkomputer dan mempunyai pelbagai fungsi. Antara fungsi makmal bahasa adalah untuk menguasai kemahiran lisan dan pertuturan seperti: Kemahiran Sebutan (pronunciation drills and practice) Pemahaman Mendengar (listening comprehension skills).

7.3. Kokurikulum
Maklumat Am Unit Sukan Dan Kokurikulum Pengenalan Unit Sukan dan Kokurikulum POLISAS ditubuhkan selaras dengan perlaksanaan Kursus Kokurikulum di semua Politeknik mengikut struktur program seperti yang diluluskan dalam Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Perancangan Teknikal Politeknik Bil. 1/2000 mulai Sesi Jun 2000. Kursus Kokurikulum yang dilaksanakan ialah POLIBRIGED untuk pelajar Semester 1 dan Pasukan Beruniform, Sukan dan Kelab/Persatuan untuk pelajar Semester 2. Di samping itu, unit ini juga bertanggungjawab untuk merancang, melaksana, menyelaras dan memantau semua aktiviti sukan pelajar POLISAS. Matlamat Utama Membantu melahirkan graduan yang berketerampilan, kreatif dan kritis, mempunyai sifat kepimpinan yang inovatif dan jati diri yang jitu. Merancang serta melaksana aktiviti yang bermakna dan berfaedah untuk memenuhi masa lapang siswa–siswi, memberi peluang kepada siswa–siswi untuk mengaplikasikan kemahiran asas yang telah dipelajari berdasarkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman melalui aktiviti kokurikulum memupuk semangat perpaduan, memperkukuhkan semangat muhibah, interaksi dan integrasi nasional selaras dengan Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan Menjana daya pemikiran yang kreatif dan kritis, memupuk sikap berdaya saing serta berketerampilan di kalangan siswa-siswi. Kemudahan Yang Disediakan Kemudahan semua gelanggang permainan di POLISAS adalah di bawah seliaan Unit Sukan dan Kokurikulum seperti padang bolasepak, padang ragbi, gelanggang takraw, tenis, bola keranjang, bola jaring dan padang petanque.

8. Perkhidmatan Sokongan
8.1. Hal Ehwal Pelajar (HEP)
Unit ini menjalankan segala tanggungjawab yang berurusan dengan semua hal pelajar.
Pengambilan dan Data. Menguruskan segala hal berhubung dengan pengambilan dan pendaftaran pelajar semasa dan baru. Menyimpan segala rekod dan maklumat peribadi pelajar. Menguruskan pertukaran antara Politeknik dan pertukaran kursus. Kebajikan dan Disiplin. Menguruskan pinjaman dan bantuan pelajar di bawah pengurusan Pegawai Biasiswa dan Pinjaman. Memantau dan mengawal selia badan induk pelajar iaitu Jawatankuasa Perwakilan Pelajar (JPP), Kelab dan Persatuan yang ditubuhkan oleh pelajar. 8.2. Unit Peperiksaan
Unit Peperiksaan POLISAS bertanggungjawab bagi menyelaras dan mengendalikan segala urusan yang berkaitan dengan aktiviti-aktiviti peperiksaan dan persijilan. Dalam melaksanakan tanggungjawab tersebut unit ini telah mendapat kerjasama penuh daripada semua jabatan lain. Unit Peperiksaan POLISAS bertanggungjawab bagi menyelaras dan mengendalikan segala urusan yang berkaitan dengan aktiviti-aktiviti peperiksaan dan persijilan. 8.3. Unit Perhubungan & Latihan Industri
Unit Perhubungan dan Latihan Industri (UPLI) menyelaraskan semua aktiviti yang bersangkutan dengan latihan industri pelajar. Fungsi-fungsi unit ini adalah:
● Mengadakan perbincangan dengan pihak-pihak swasta, badan berkanun dan kerajaan bagi mendapatkan tempat latihan industri pelajar
● Menyelaraskan lawatan penyelia ke tempat pelajar-pelajar menjalani latihan
● Bekerjasama dengan pihak penganjur latihan industri bagi membolehkan pelajar mendapat manfaat semaksima yang mungkin dari latihan industri yang dijalani.

8.5. Perpustakaan
Perkhidmatan perpustakaan ialah:
● Menyediakan pelbagai jenis bahan bacaan untuk pinjaman kepada ahli perpustakaan yang berdaftar. Selain daripada koleksi buku terdapat juga bahan-bahan lain disediakan untuk pinjaman.
● Perkhidmatan ini disediakan untuk membantu para pelajar dan pensyarah membuat pencarian bahan dan maklumat.
● Perpustakaan POLISAS menyediakan perkhidmatan Komputer untuk para pelajar mengakses internet, Pangkalan Data Mylib dan untuk membuat tugasan. Perkhidmatan bermula 9.00 pagi sehingga 4.30 petang.

Keahlian Keahlian Kelab ini terdiri daripada semua pelajar Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal Kaedah Perlantikan AJK Perlantikan secara pilihan raya, perlantikan bersurat ataupun pencalonan. Yuran Semua ahli dikenakan membayar yuran pendaftaran sebanyak RM10.00 satu semester. Yuran keahlian bagi setiap semester ialah RM10.00 dan hendaklah dijelaskan dalam semester berkenaan sebelum Mesyuarat Agung berikutnya. Sebarang perubahan kadar yuran hendaklah diputuskan oleh Mesyuarat Agung. Ahli Kehormat dikecualikan yuran pendaftaran. Yuran yang telah diterima tidak akan dikembalikan.
Team Mentor Mentee Program ini merupakan aktiviti setiap semester telah dilancarkan pada semester Januari 2011. Objektif program ini adalah untuk memupuk jatidiri, disiplin dan semangat berpasukan di kalangan pelajar yang mendapat 3.5 pada semester semasa. Pelajar yang terpilih akan dibantu oleh 13 orang Mentor di kalangan pensyarah terpilih. Sebagai Mentee, para pelajar yang cemerlang ini akan membimbing pelajar yang lemah agar sama sama maju dari segi akademik dan sahsiah. Senarai aktiviti yang telah dilaksanakan:
