TOWARDS PERFORMANCE STEEL FRAME REGULAR BUILDING

Abstract: Performance of a structure against earthquake loads depends on the structural system used in thebuilding. This research was done to compare the performances of lateral load resisting system used in low tomedium rise steel frame regular building. The analysis was done for four and ten storey regular building. Foreach storey, there are three models to be investigated with variation on structural system namely Special MomentFrame (SMF), Excentric Brace Frame (EBF) and Dual System (Shear Wall). All models have equal gravity loadsand are designed conforming to the Indonesia standard namely SNI 2847-2013, SNI 03-1729-2002, SNI 1726(2012). Structural performance analysis were done using static non-linear pushover analysis. The analysis resultshows that shear wall system has the highest base shear. The base shear of the four storey building is respectively1164.63 kN; 8402.88 kN; 4576.70 kN for shear wal, EBF and SMF system. For building model of 10-floors, thebase shear is 16793.63 kN; 11122.53 kN; dan 5157.38 kN respectively for shear wall, EBF and SMF system. Theshear wall systems show the best performance was indicated by the smallest displacement value. The lateraldisplacement of the 4 storey building are 3.46mm, 6.47 mm and 19.11 mm respectively for shear wall, EBF andSMF system. For 10 storey building the lateral displacement are 851.42 mm, 235.54 mm, 187.56 mm for shearwall, EBF and SMF respectively. Duckyility of SMF system is the highest between 4 and 10 storey building. Theductility of the SMF system is 4.65 and 4.77 for 4 and 10 storey building respectively. For the EBF and shear wallsystem, the ductility is 3.06 and 3.25; 2.67 and 2.84, respectively for four and ten storey building.
