The most cost effective way to lower maintenanceexpenses and help ensure trouble-free systemoperation is through proper filtration.

Hastings Premium Filters has designed a lube filter forthe Detroit™ DD13®, DD15® and DD16® that deliversthe protection required for these sophisticated engines.

As part of Hastings commitment to providing the bestfiltration products, the LF673 lube filter was subjectedto numerous lab tests, both standard and non-standard,and over one million miles of over-the-road testing.

Hastings’ LF673 performed so well in lab testing that inan attempt to find the maximum collapse pressure ofthe filter in cold environments, the housing lid fractured,yet the filter was undamaged.

Hastings subjected the LF673 to many “worst case”scenario tests, including cold start testing where theengine was cooled to -10°F (-23°C) with no engineblock heater used. The engine continued to start andthe test filters showed no damage.

Additional lab tests show Hastings’ LF673 outperformedother lube filters designed for this engine series.Specifically, the black polyamide beads withstood flowfatigue, hot oil soak and thermal cycling tests better thancompetitive offerings. The Hastings filter completedeach test with all beads intact, while competitive filtersfailed the flow fatigue and thermal cycling tests. AllLF673 components have consistently passed extremelyrigorous testing - in the lab and in the field.

The lab tests, in combination with extensive field testing,show Hastings’ LF673 provides the performanceexpected of Hastings-designed products and meets therequirements of this demanding application.
