In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1.1)The role of the narrative storytelling

Creation: stories consist of choices, distortions and inventionsIdentity-building: this is My StoryEmotionally significant: will result in attachment: this is the true story Evaluative: will tell exactly the real value of things within the storyCoherent (more or less): there are no chance storiesPredicting: the future behavior; the story has a continuation

Creating social meaning2013.05.31Zoltan Bretter, Ph.D.: Building Blocks for a Policy Analysis the Case of ECoC Pcs 2010Discourses contain narratives, which are essentiallystories, either in oral or written form. Fundamentally, narrative storytellingreveals or conveys an experience structured as a sequence ofevents or occurrences (e.g., a beginning, middle, and ending) throughwhich individuals relate their experiences to one another. In policyinquiry, narrative story lines in the everyday world draw on the vocabulariesof the macro epistemic discourses to which the inquiry belongs. The specific role of the story is to furnish communication with particulardetails that provide the material out of which social meaning iscreated. They are not arguments as such, but arguments are often includedas part of the story.

Questions for further - theoretical - reflectionsPcs Trapped by Multi-level Governance

Was it imperative that a metanarrative should be born? (From methodological point of view did we got it right with the metanarrative?)If yes, why?Deliberation should stop at some point (the point of the implementation of a public policy program)?Political culture is of the nature, which won`t allow deliberation to be extended beyond the planning phase?Politicking is inevitable or dependent on political culture?Do we need a dynamic model of public policy making and analysis? (for example restructuring that of Hal Colebatch.)Are there any chances for a multi-level governance, and if yes, under what conditions? The political culture of mutual distrust will support any multi-level govenance? 2013.05.31Zoltan Bretter, Ph.D.: Building Blocks for a Policy Analysis the Case of ECoC Pcs 2010
