Criteria for selection of stations in ISMN

The optimal choice of locations for installing the accelerographs is of great and significant important. There are some factors to be considered in location determinations.

1 -Seismicity and seismotectonics2 -Regional geology

3 -Reasonable coverage of various site conditions4-Topography

5 -Seismic hazard map of Iran6 -Important Structure (dams, high rise buildings, etc)

7 -Local facilities (power, road, etc.)

Instruments of Iran strong motion network

- Analogue accelerographs(SMA-1, 74operational)

- Digital accelerographs (SSA-2, 1002operational)

- Solid state recorder (SSR1, 4 ready for aftershock studies)

- Portable drum recorder(PS2, 1 ready for aftershock studies )
