The Middle East Healthcare Informatics Summit successfully concluded on 28th October, 2014 at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai, UAE. The summit brought together over 200 government, policy makers, healthcare providers and solution providers with the objective to align hospitals and healthcare professionals that need to adopt and utilize informatics in all levels of service to improve efficiency and manage cost and be able to interact with the patients and all professionals involved in the continuum of health care and continuity of care. An international panel of speakers comprising of 24 leading experts highlighted informatics as a major part of their presentations and addressed the subject from a different point of view: healthcare management, data governance, operations and financial, sound and consistent governance of healthcare data and more governance to ensure reliability and integrity of information, data and services. Experts present at the summit recommend the following for the industry:• Protect your data and protect patient information• Be ready for Healthcare 3.0, A new era of healthcare informatics - Data Driven Best Practices, Collaboration and Accountability, a new level of system/service/data integration and user engagement• Demand and expect seamless integrated systems that naturally match the flow of your services – the days of going back and forth from one system to another has gone• Be prepared to put your patient in the driver seat - patients will demand owning and managing their own health information.
