Students must participate in a formal study course offered by their university or local chapter of a Universal Accreditation Board participating organization (e.g., Public Relations Society of America, Florida Public Relations Association, and Southern Public Relations Federation) OR complete the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations Online Study Course.

What does the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations Examination cover? Basic knowledge of public relations principles, with particular emphasis on the four-step process of public relations and on ethics. How much does it cost to take the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations Examination? Students pay $150 ($25 application fee plus $125 examination fee). Who administers the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations program? The Universal Accreditation Board (UAB) comprises nine participating public relations professional organizations. The UAB also administers the Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations (APR).

Who is eligible to take the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations Examination? Students who are (a) within six months of graduation (before or after) from an accredited college or university whose undergraduate or master's degree is in public relations or a related area of study; AND (b) members of the Public Relations Student Society of America or student member of another UAB Participating Organization, such as the Florida Public Relations Association or the Southern Public

Relations Federation.

Do students have to be a member of a professional organization to take the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations Examination?Yes, students must be a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (this includes affiliate members of PRSSA) or student member of another UAB Participating Organization, such as the Florida Public Relations Association or the Southern Public Relations Federation.
