We apologize for the delay in sending out this prayer letter. Our computer connection here in the jungle is not always as good as we would like. It seems like storms are always interfering with the service. Sometimes our line breaks, and needs to be repaired. The local power company has also been having some trouble with their generator, leaving us with only a few hours of electricity each day. We have had to go back to using the small generator, just like before. But we do not get any computer connec- tion without the local power. In any case, we are thankful to our Lord to have anything at all! Please pray for our soul-winning and visitation efforts! So far it seems like we are going through a dry season, without any souls being saved. This is distressing and discouraging to our hearts. The Bible promises in Isaiah 55:11, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Perhaps we are just planting and watering the seed. Perhaps we are just sowing for now, and the reaping will come in God's perfect timing. However, we do see some visitors attend church meetings. And it seems like the faithful people in the church are touched by the preaching of God's Word. It is always a blessing to see them come forward in the invitation to get things right with the Lord. Our young people continue to come out on Saturdays and help us "shake the bushes" of Port Kaituma. Sometimes we go house to house to talk one-on-one with people. On other occasions we have gone through the waterfront, distributing Gospel tracts to the shopown- ers and customers. Sometimes we take Scripture signs and a megaphone, and we stand in the streets, preaching the Gospel and singing Scripture songs. We are posting some pic- tures along with this prayer letter. One of our goals is to get some adults and teenagers to join us for Saturday visitation. To help stress the importance of witnessing, we have pur- chased about 50 books on "A Biblical Course In Witnessing" written by Bro. James Knox, to be taught in Sunday School. By God's grace, we will be starting that up in two weeks. During visitation in Oronoque on one Saturday, we came to a little shop. The children had stopped to give some Gospel tracts to a couple who lived there and tended the shop. Evi- dently the people had asked our children some hard questions that they could not answer. So they called me over, and I started to talk to them. After a little conversation, I found out that the couple were Hindu. For about an hour I attempted to reason with them about sal- vation through the Lord Jesus Christ as Shannon took the children down the road to the next houses. The Hindu couple could not get over the obstacle of their religion. They kept telling me about Gandhi, reincarnation, and heaven on earth. Unfortunately they would not get saved. The children told us later that they could not understand how we could be saved if Jesus Christ had not died on the cross for our sins. To them, it is easy to under- stand the Gospel. Praise the Lord! God has supplied for our need to get a vehicle. Several churches have contributed largely to help us. We have been able to find a Toyota Rav-4 in Georgetown. There are some people who cannot come to church because they have to walk a little distance. Now we can give those people a ride to church. We are thankful to God for all who have given so much time in prayer for us, and others who have given money to help in this important ministry. May God bless you all as you continue to serve Him faithfully!
