QUANTITY SURVEYING

The vocational school Jean de Berry is located in Bourges in the centre of France,

European sections were created for the architect assistants, quantity surveyors, joiners and plumbers.

At school there are different courses:Painting, plumbing, joinery, bricklaying, roofing, architectural fields (to become architect assistant or quantity surveyor)

Duration of the studies: 3 years

 

Recruitment: student after the 4th year

Training period: 22 weeks during the 3 years

 

The jobs can be done after this BTEC :

-Quantity surveyor

-Technical study

-Consulting engineer

After the BTEC of quantity surveying you can do:

BTS quantity surveying

DUT civilian engineering

Optional: in block release training ( workplace and school)

 

The quantity surveying activities are :

 

Taking measures on site

Estimating quantities and prices

Drawing by computer / studying plans

Preparing and following the administrative and statutory folders

Assisting and coordinating the work on site

A student is telling about his studies in the European section:

“Hello, I’m in the European section. I am learning the different building trades and the different activities used for my future job.

We work in a small group so we can improve our technical and common English easily. The different activities are:

- role plays in professional English

- role plays in common English

- use of technical words

I went to England to do my work experience and it was great!
