Festival of Showing & BSPA Winter Championships

QUALIFIERS FOR:

❖ BRITISH SKEWBALD & PIEBALD ASSOCIATION (BSPA) Royal International Horse Show: 24th July 2018 Classes 3 – 9 are qualifiers for the RIHS. All horses/ponies must be registered and all owners/riders BSPA members prior to the show. Membership cards must be carried in the ring by competitor and produced as required for inspection or signature. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Spurs may not be worn in any pony class. Ponies 153cms or under (Shetlands exempt) must possess a current a current JMB certificate.

Competitors qualifying at this show for the RIHS must submit their entries by recorded delivery post with full payment within 48 hours of qualifying to the Showing Secretary, All England Jumping Course, Hickstead, West Sussex, RH17 5NU. Schedules and entry forms can be downloaded at http://www.hickstead.co.uk/entries-and-results/the-longgines-royal-international-horse-show

All stallions must be graded and licensed by BSPA or hold a BSPA Showing Permit (Contact BSPA for stallion permit showing information) for BSPA and have a BSPA stallion ID card and wear a BSPA stallion ID Disc. No rider under 14 may exhibit a stallion in any class.

Qualifications: 1st place and the next unqualified competitor standing 2nd or 3rd will qualify. No competitor may qualify from lower than third place. Highest placed Amateur and highest placed Junior in each class qualify for Amateur and Junior Supreme Championship finals to be held at BSPA World of Colour Championship Show at the College EC, Keysoe, Bedfordshire. All Champion and Reserve Champion winners qualify for the BSPA Star Championships at WCC.

World Championships of Colour: Saturday 15th September 2018 1st – 3rd qualify automatically 1st – 4th qualify from classes with 10-12 competitors 1st – 6th qualify from classes exceeding 12 competitors

❖ BRITISH MINIATURE HORSE SOCIETY (BMHS) Royal International Horse Show: 24th July – 29th July 2018 Affiliated to the British Miniature Horse Society and run under BMHS Show Rules. Owners and Handlers entering horses in classes 53 – 58 must be paid up showing members of the British Miniature Horse Society. The first two up to fourth place who have not already qualified will qualify.

❖ BRITISH SHOW HORSE ASSOCIATION (BSHA) Royal International Horse Show: 24th July – 29th July 2018 Classes 36 – 42 are qualifiers for the RIHS. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify. If the first and second have already qualified then the third will go forward. Horses must be registered with the BSHA and all Owners, Exhibitors and Riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry form. Horses competing at the RIHS and qualifying shows in Hunter sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. The three highest placed prize winners in each Open Affiliated class will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme classes at the National Championship Show September 2018. The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes).

The Association will also award an Amateur Home Produced rosette in each Affiliated Open Cob (Lightweight & Heavyweight only) classes. These rosettes have been kindly sponsored by TSG, Mr L Turley. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year.

❖ P(UK) YOUNG RIDERS CHAMPIONSHIP RIHS AND P(UK) M&M AMATEUR RIDERS Royal International Horse Show: 24th July – 29th July 2018 Classes 32-35 are qualifying classes for the RIHS. Owners must be Annual Members, Riders must be current P(UK) Annual or Junior/Senior Riders Club Members and the Ponies currently registered with P(UK) before the time of entry in order to compete in these classes.

❖ NATIONAL PONY SOCIETY (NPS) This show is affiliated to the National Pony Society and the NPS affiliated classes will be run under NPS rules. Classes are open to Members and Non-Members of the NPS, but Non-Members will need to become members to enter the finals at the NPS Spring Festival 2018. The NPS General Rules for Showing apply (see NPS website for details). In each class the three highest placed ponies, not already qualified, within the first six places, will qualify. Winnings in the 2017/2018 Novice and Pure Novice Winter Championships will not debar ponies from the NPS 2018 Mountain and Moorland Novice Ridden competitions. Qualification cards will be awarded in the ring.

❖ SPORT HORSE BREEDING (SHB(GB)) Royal International Horse Show: 24th July – 29th July 2018 Classes 24 - 28 are qualifying classes for the RIHS. In the amateur hunter classes, the two highest placed smalls, the two highest placed lightweights, the two highest placed middleweights and the two highest placed heavyweights will qualify. Judges must place all horses to determine qualifiers. Only horses on the Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be members of the Society. Day Ticket = £35 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 2 show’s in the year – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days.

❖ TRADITIONAL GYPSY COB ASSOCIATION (TGCA) – AFFILIATION NO: 03/17/026 TOYS September 2018. Classes 50 – 52 are qualifying classes for the TOYS Championships. These classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association's (TGCA) National Breed Championship Show “TOYS”, held annually in September. Full details can be obtained from www.tgca.co.uk. Classes are open to all traditional gypsy cobs. Stallions – All stallions (four years and over) in order to enter any TGCA affiliated class, must be licensed with the TGCA prior to the show AND have their TGCA stallion disc displayed on their bridle. Existing TGCA members must present their qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non-members will receive a qualification card from the judge and will have 21 days to join the TGCA and to register their horse in order to validate this. TOYS Qualifications will be awarded to the top three youngstock, small senior IH, large senior IH, small ridden, large ridden and to the highest placed junior and restricted exhibitor. Please refer to www.tgca.co.uk for further details including membership, horse registration and showing rules (contained within the member’s handbook).

➢ ALL Qualification cards (where issued) MUST be in the Rider’s / Handler’s possession IN THE RING and given to the Judge to sign, otherwise qualification will pass to the next un-qualified competitor under each Society’s rules.

➢ OPEN CLASSES are open to any type or colour of horse / pony, conforming to the class description or requirement re breed, type, age or gender.

➢ PRIZE MONEY where offered will be posted to the owner within 28 days of the show.

➢ CLASS TIMES – rings will commence at times shown, thereafter classes will not start before the scheduled times. Class times are dependent upon class size and the Judge’s progress.

➢ BSPA MEMBERS are able to qualify for the BSPA World Championships of Colour on Saturday 16th September from all eligible classes in this schedule as above.

DEFINITIONS

BSPA HOME PRODUCED CLASSES These classes are open to horses and ponies that have been stabled at home (without any paid assistance) or kept at livery on a DIY basis since 1st January 2018. Horses / ponies must not have been shown or trained by a professional Producer or kept at livery at any time during this period (except for service in the case of Brood Mares). To be owned/kept, produced, ridden / handled by a person who does not derive their main income from working with horses / ponies. It is anticipated that exhibitors will enter in the true spirit of this competition.

BSPA AMATEUR CLASSES These classes are restricted to exhibitors who do not: a) Engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling or dealing in a commercial capacity. b) Receive remuneration for employment in the connection with horses in racing, showing, livery or riding

school. c) Show a horse / pony owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm. d) On the day when an exhibit is competing in an amateur class, professional Producers are not allowed

to ride or work in the relevant animal. No professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom / strip the horse.

SHB(GB) AMATEUR CLASS

1) Engage in livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses as a means of deriving a main source of income since 1st January 2016.

2) Accept remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with horses in a racing, showing or livery stable or riding school (instruction at Pony Club and Riding Club excepted). Since 1st January 2016.

3) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm, or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate concern since 1st January 2016.

4) Show a horse which a professional rider has ridden in any ridden hunter or ridden sport horse class during the current year, with the exception of working hunter classes & ladies hunter classes unless the horse has subsequently been re-registered under new ownership.

5) Professional show persons must not enter the Amateur Ring whilst the classes are in progress. A professional show person is another term for a professional producer and as such a professional groom who works for a producer can enter the ring to groom.

6) A professional rider must not ride or exercise an amateur’s horse on the day it is competing in amateur classes.

7) Amateur Home Produced – Horses which are either stabled at home or in a D.I.Y yard and which since 1st January 2018 have not been shown by a professional during the current season or stabled in a professional yard at any time in 2018. Must be ridden by an Amateur. This does not exclude the Amateur Owner Home Produced riders having lessons at any time with an instructor, providing the horse remains stabled at home or in a D.I.Y yard.

CLASS 1 SKEWBALD / PIEBALD HORSE OR PONY IN FIRST SEASON Stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, in their first season of ridden showing. Judge will

not ride – a short display is required. No gallop other than in individual display at the rider’s discretion. No rein back is required.

1st & 2nd to qualify for either Championship D or E during the Champions Gala.

CLASS 2 SKEWBALD / PIEBALD RIDDEN NOVICE HORSE / PONY Stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over. Judge will not ride – a short display is required.

A suitable snaffle bridle only MUST be worn. 1st & 2nd to qualify for either Championship D or E during the Champions Gala.

CHAMPIONSHIP – 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 1 - 2 to compete in Championship D or E during the Champions Gala.

Skewbald and Piebald horses only may compete. All horses / ponies must be registered with the BSPA in order to compete and a competitor qualification card issued prior to this show.

All stallions must be graded and licensed by BSPA or hold a BSPA Showing Permit (contact BSPA for Stallion showing permit information) for 2018 and have a BSPA stallion ID card and wear BSPA Stallion ID Disc. No rider under 14 may exhibit a stallion in any class.

QUALIFICATION RIHS: 1st place and the next unqualified competitor standing 2nd or 3rd in all classes. No competitor may qualify from lower than 3rd place. Qualification cards must be brought into the ring by riders and given to the Judge to sign whilst rosettes are being awarded. This does not apply to Novice Working Hunter Classes. Any horse that qualifies for Horse of the Year Show in a Ridden Hunter Class (not including Working Hunter Classes) will not be eligible to compete in Novice classes from 1st January the following year, but horses that qualified for HOYS as a 4 year old are exempt. The Polly Coles 4 & 5 Year Old Ridden Hunter Championship – The top three horses from every SHB(GB) 4 year old ridden hunter class and the top three 4 or 5 year olds in any SHB(GB) Novice Ridden Hunter Class, held at shows prior to the 2018 Hunter Show will qualify. DAY TICKETS - Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per Rider, per season. British Show Horse Association Royal International Horse Show Qualifiers 2018

Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the Association and all Owners, Exhibitors and Riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form.

Classes 36 – 42 are qualifiers for The Royal International Horse Show. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward.

Horses competing at the RIHS and qualifying shows in Hunter sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes.

The three highest placed prize winners in all Open Affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme classes at the National Championship Show September 2018.

The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes).

The Association will award a new Amateur Home Produced rosette in all Affiliated Open classes (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse and HOYS Hunter classes); the Cob rosettes have been kindly sponsored by TSG and the Hack, Maxi Cob & Riding Horse rosettes have been kindly sponsored by Mr & Mrs E McCourt. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year.

Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A & B. Not exceeding 122cms. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bit, the leading rein to be attached to the noseband only. The reins must go directly from the bit to the rider’s hands. (Riders must not have attained their 9th birthday by 1st January in the current year).
