Program OverviewOur undergraduate communication degrees are based upon research and coursework that emphasize the rhetorical, organizational, interpersonal, and mediated contexts and perspectives which define the field of communication. These are advanced through the faculty’s commitment to the scholarships of discovery, teaching,

application and integration. These are articulated through the program curriculum, which:

• Seeks to familiarize students with a range of theories, methods of inquiry, philosophies and practices of the communication discipline• Develops skills for analyzing, interpreting and critiquing communication problems and questions• Promotes the development of communication competence, especially an understanding of how taken-for-granted communication patterns create and sustain human relations

The Bachelor of Science differs from the Bachelor of Arts in Communication in that the bachelor of science requires fewer foreign language and liberal arts credits and more credits in communication.

Admission InformationUofL’s online bachelor’s degree programs are designed so that you complete the first two years of coursework through the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) with the Kentucky Virtual Campus (KYVC). You may, however, transfer credit to UofL from any regionally accredited university.

The first step is to submit an undergraduate application at www.louisville.edu/admissions/apply and pay the $40 non-refundable application fee. You will then need to submit transcripts from all undergraduate institutions you attended as part of the admissions process. Upon review, some or all credit may be applied to your degree program.
