A few years back in one of our Brylor Semen Sales Directories, I penned oneline that I do believe needs to be restated. I urged all potential customers and believersin the A.I. method of breeding their herds to keep their heads up and to be aware ofa problem I have with the major A.I. studs and their semen distributors in the field. If you, or anyone you know, is considering ordering semen, ask your semen

distributor one simple question – “Have you actually seen this bull I am consideringusing and will he improve my herd... especially in the feet department?” I believe that too often the answer is going to be, “No, I haven’t seen him... but I

hear he’s a great one!” Fellow Red Angus Breeders – I own a bolt in this Red Angus outfit!! I am aware

first hand of the strengths and especially of the shortfalls of our breed! I havepersonally seen each and every one of these bulls, I own most of them and haveused every one of them in our own program (or, in the case of the Best Man calf, Iwill be using him). Every one of these bulls can offer you something to enhance your existing pro-

gram and I can personally assure you that the feet have damned sure been in-spected and passed my own personal demands on all these bulls in this book!! Eliminate some of the unknown variables in a major decision each spring for
