(WSVN) -- A Broward County elementary school teacher's use of awarded grant money has attracted the attention of Superintendent Robert Runcie. Runcie visited second grade teacher Amy DeCelle's classroom at Tropical Elementary School. She received more than $9,000 in grants from the nonprofit Broward Education Foundation over the last four years. One of her programs, "Fun with Words" has now earned her classroom more than $1,000 to use toward teaching her students. Runcie was so impressed by DeCelle's use of the grants that he visited her classroom Monday morning to host a literacy event there. Children's author Andrew Toffoli donated books for the event. Teachers recently received grants from the Broward Education Foundation, which awards grants to teachers who help students achieve more with creative classroom activities in the Broward County School District.
