“The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities

for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things.” - Jean

Another month of learning comes to an end with our little ones armed with new skills that will

help them develop more, as the months go by! An array of activities have been combined to

broaden their learning and provide them with opportunities to understand the culture and rituals

associated with different festivals. The children have listened with rapt attention and also

participated in the discussions, making each interactive session a great learning experience for

themselves and us.

Raksha Bandhan Celebrations:

Raksha Bandhan means a thread of protection. During this festival the sister ties a rakhi on her

brother’s wrist and he promises to love and protect her! Children at the centre were informed

about the significance of this wonderful festival through a skit as well as a quiz which took place

during assembly. The learners in the different classes also got an opportunity to tie rakhis on

their siblings and friends’ wrists. Our wonderful learners also made rakhis during their art and

craft sessions. These exquisite pieces of work, so lovingly and painstaking created by them

were sent to the soldiers at the Indian border; a small token of appreciation for the sacrifices

they make. This activity gave them a glimpse of Indian culture, helping them to truly become

global citizens!

World Book Lovers Day:

As you flip through the pages of a book emerges a whole new world waiting to be explored! This

year we celebrated World Book Lovers Day with parents who took some time off from their busy

schedules to read to our little ones, and we are really grateful for the overwhelming response.

Each class had one or two parent volunteers who patiently read to the children, interacted with

them and even gave them books as gifts. Children also participated in other activities carefully

arranged by the team. We would like to thank all of you for working with us to instill the love of

books in the little ones.

Independence Day Celebrations:

We celebrated India’s 72nd Independence Day by sharing information about our county with the

learners. Dressed in traditional Indian attire with accessories to match, our little ones looked

adorable on this day! The teachers shared information about India during the assembly while

the children listened with rapt attention absorbing every minute detail. Our enthusiastic learners

participated in the interactive session and shared some amazing facts about India. The learners

took part in singing the national anthem.

Eid-Al-Adha Celebrations:

The children got a glimpse of a few customs and rituals practiced druing Eid-Al-Adha when Ms.

Sabah and Ms. Sadaf visited the classrooms with Daniyaal, a Prep 2 learner. Through their

interactions and discussions the educators spoke to the learners about the significance of the

festival. The children relished the dates that was distributed post the session.

Friendship Day Celebrations:

Nurturing bonds and understanding the importance of relationships is something that form the

core of life and we constantly endeavor to teach the little ones this through our everyday

interactions. On Friendship day we arranged for a number of activities for the learners. These

fun activities helped nurture the bond of friendship and inculcated in them the spirit of

togetherness.

Visit to Music Box:

Our Reception learners visited “The Music Box” this month for a session that would help them

better understand the sense of “sound,” in connection to the Unit they were inquiring into. They

had a wonderful time interacting with the teachers there and got an opportunity to try their hand

at the different musical instruments. The hospitality extended to the children and the team was

truly phenomenal!

Language Acquisition:

Knowing different languages helps open up many new possibilities and that is why the little ones

at the centre learn Spanish as a second language. During her sessions Ms. Renu uses a variety

of different of props, books and other resources to teach the little ones. They hum the songs she

teaches them and share the knowledge of the numbers and letters with their teachers, friends

and family. It is wonderful to see them learning a second language and doing so well at it, at

such a tender age!

I had a wonderful time putting together this newsletter and I hope that through it you got an insight into the activities conducted at the centre. Wishing you a great month ahead! Warm Regards, Rachna
