MEET OUR DEPARTMENT LEADERS Resident of the Month: Margaret Carlin Margaret was born January 11, 1962 in Philadelphia. She was one of 9 children and she says, “She is the best of the 9!” She was right in the middle with 4 older siblings and 4 younger. Margaret went to 1st through 8th grade at St. Jerome’s. Throughout her childhood and school years, she loved to run and play on the corner with the neighborhood kids. They enjoyed playing Baby in the Air, Freedom and kickball. In 8th grade, Margaret taught Sunday school and cleaned the Rectory and Convent on the weekends. Margaret then attended St. Hubert’s High School. She worked after school at Turks & Becker’s as a sales girl. Every summer, Margaret enjoyed living in North Cape May by the bay and she worked retail down the shore as well. Margaret enjoyed being a live-in Nanny for her sisters and she did this until the kids were of age and they didn’t need her anymore. Margaret has always enjoyed children and still does. She was also a homemaker for 27 years, as she continued to Nanny and clean houses. A fond memory for Margaret was when her dad was a firefighter and on his lunch break, he’d come home and bring the hook ‘n ladder truck. All the kids would get to play on the truck and even get to shoot the fire hose. Margaret always enjoys her social life and her family. Today she continues to live by two of her favorite beliefs, “Live, Love & Be Strong” and “Follow the path God has chosen for you.” Missy Hallman Administrator Donna Schwendiman Director of Nursing Jennifer Thompson Assistant Director of Nursing Sara Jones Admissions Liaison Dawn Manila, MSW, LSW Director of Social Service Sylvia O’Connell Business Office Manager Josh Loss, Admissions Director Marlon Colter Maintenance Director Edith Rodriguez Housekeeping & Laundry Supervisor Robin Ziegler Activities Director Aaron Mitchell Food Service Director Kathleen Belaong Program Director Monique Brown Human Resources Nicole Chandler & Angel Jackson RNACs Cathy Kuemmerle Medical Records Kathy Palilonis Infection Control Julie Kimble, Dietitian Camilla Burke, Central Supply Millie Seltzer Unit Managers Lori Kennedy RN/Restorative From Our Administrator Missy Hallman Administrator, Brookside Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center JOAN, ANNA, MARGIE & ARTHUR WRITE CHRISTMAS CARDS A DYNAMIC DUO – KIRA GRIER & MISSY HALLMAN OUR RESIDENT OF THE MONTH, MARGARET CARLIN SARAH JANE NEDL WRAPS A PRESENT WITH A SMILE A Member of NATIONWIDE HEALTHCARE SERVICES January 2019, Volume III, Issue I THE Brookside Bulletin

EVERYONE HAS A STORY IN LIFE

A 24-year old boy, seeing out from the train’s window, shouted, “Dad, look the trees are going behind!”

Dad smiled, and a young couple sitting nearby looked at the 24-year old’s childish behavior with pity.

Suddenly he again exclaimed, “Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”

The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man, “Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?”

The old man smiled and said, “I did and we are just coming from the hospital. My son was blind from birth and he just got his eyes today.”

Every single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.
