Observe birds
• Look at them both with and without doing other things
• Look at the whole flock, the individual chick and than back to the flock
• Look for averages and extremes
• Look at the front, back, the middle of the house The same with feeding. What is happening there?
• Look at different itmes and different circumstances
• At regular intervals, get down and move about the level of the birds live at
• Identify critical times, suspectible birds and danmger zones and keep an extra eye on them

Use what you see to improve flock management. Ask the following
questions about everything you see:
• What am I seeing, hearing, smelling or feeling. What is the signal?
• Why is this happening. What is the explanation?
• What should I do? Can I leave it or should I take action?
