IMAS is a professional accountancy training institution, specialising

in Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Association

of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Certified

Bookkeepers (ICB) qualifications. It was established in 2013 to initially

broaden access to high-quality professional accountancy education to

aspiring Chartered Management Accountants. Subsequently accreditation

for both ACCA and ICB were added. IMAS is the brainchild of

Nkosinathi Christopher Thela.

The National Skills Fund identified accountants and finance managers

among the skills that are in shortage in South Africa. IMAS decided to

add the highly regarded ACCA qualification to its offering to assist in

closing the gap identified by the National Skills Fund. IMAS intends

to play a meaningful role in supporting the country to realize its

aspiration as encapsulated in the National Development Plan (NDP)

of training and developing highly skilled graduates.

IMAS is dedicated to continuing to deliver the highest standard of

lecturing and student support with the focus on guiding students to

realizing their dreams of becoming professional accountants. The

qualifications offered at IMAS are globally recognized, enabling IMAS

graduates to succeed wherever they go. IMAS develops strategic

CIMAGATEWAYROUTE

The Professional gateway and Master’s gateway routes are an

the globally recognised CGMA designation for individuals who holdan MBA or Master's in Accounting.

How does it work Eligible individuals are required to take the CIMA Gateway exam, alsoknown as the Management Level Case Study exam for those who arenot on the accelerated route.

The CIMA gateway exam is:• A computer based case study exam• Three hours long• Available in four windows a year (February, May, August and November)• Assesses knowledge and competencies covered in the Management

In preparation for the Gateway Exam, IMAS o�ers eight to ten weeksof contact classes through its part-time or home study programme.This will be followed by a two weeks of case study workshop, you canrefer to our 2021 timetables for dates and venue available on ourwebsite.

Once you have passed the CIMA Gateway Exam, you will be granted

How to get startedIMAS will register you with CIMA and submit documentsproving your eligibility for this route. Documents include:
