REPORT ON INAUGURATION OF CODING CLUB
Objective:
To inaugurate the coding club which will facilitate young learners, programmers to gain
problem-solving skills with an intention to fine tune their logical, critical analysis and coding
skills
About the Speaker:
Mr. Mohan Kumar is working as a Practice Head for Wipro Limited. His area of expertise is
in Digital Technologies and deeply engaged with competency development and enabling
Hyper-scale Cloud practices and a campus ambassador and holds pre-placement talks, Campus
selection, Champions Inclusion, and Diversity programs at Wipro. He holds an Electrical
Engineering degree and MBA in HR. He has been elected as FELLOW of the Institute of
Engineers, India. He has 32 years of IT experience and has been working with Wipro Limited
for over 14 years and held leadership roles. He has relocated to Bangalore after staying in
Australia for over 15 years Mr. Mohan is currently involved in community projects in the area
of youth leadership and provides mentorship to students pursuing Engineering, Business &
Management, and other courses. He takes interest in the initiatives of Rotary International and
deeply involves in Vocational and Environmental Initiatives. He has conducted workshops for
over 120+ colleges and schools benefitting the Next-generation. He is associated with New
Horizon Institutions for many years and currently a Board of Studies member of the New
Horizon MBA department. Mr. Mohan is part of the Board of studies and is also a member of
industry-academia advisory committees for several colleges & universities and contributes to
the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and National Board of
Accreditation (NBA) assessments representing the Industry. He is a visiting professor for
several institutions.
ABOUT THE EVENT
The session started at 9.00 AM with a welcome speech by Anusha M of IV BCA B. Mr. Mohan
Kumar, Practice Head of Wipro was the Guest of Honour for the event. Sir, through his
exemplary power point presentation focused on the need of coding and also emphasized on the
key areas where the upcoming generation should focus on. His address was informative and
participating, urging students to directly express their views on different technical topics. Some
of the broader topics which were covered in the PPT include the different types of firms the
students can look forward to, Emerging Technical Stack, In-Demand Skills Priorities, and
Technology Focus, Platforms and solutions, Virtual AI co-developers in the future, Business
Impact, GIG, Selection Process for fresher’s, Importance of coding, Coding Standards, an
overview of how a Typical Product Engineer works, various Competencies, Databases, “The
Full-Stack”, Java Full Stack Phase, and Continuous Learning Engagement model. Throughout
the session, Mr. Mohan emphasized that the journey ahead would always involve active
learning and participation, without which it is very difficult to survive in this competitive era.
Students were encouraged to learn skills independently. He engaged the students in activities
that made the event very interactive. The feedback was collected from all participants to
incorporate and improvise the upcoming sessions. The session culminated with a vote of thanks
from Ms. Vinutha Kotari of IV BCA B
