In our local YL area, there are nearly 120 volunteer leaders doing work in eight schools. These folks
have a passion for Jesus and a passion to love kids. Their goal is simply to enter into the world
of teenagers, on thier turf, to build a friendship...a bridge of trust. They want to earn the right to
be heard and a chance to help kids consider the claims of Jesus.
You might find YL Leaders in a school lunchroom, volunteer coaching, in the parking lot after school, or watching football practice or games on Friday nights. The method is not spectacular or flashy,
but it is effective. It is to simply SHOW UP. We find that if you consistently show up in the world
of kids they will respond.
Fundraising 5KLast fall, Opelika Young Life leaders hosted its first an-nual 5K run to assist Ope-lika students in attending camp. More than $2,000 was raised, allowing many kids to go Sharptop Cove that may not other wise been able to attend. Since it was such a success, this 5K run will be implementing yearly for camp fundraising efforts. It’s a 5K run experi-
ence you’ll never forget!
Weekend CampEach year, East Alabama Young Life takes kids from high schools all over Auburn and Opelika to weekend camp at Sharptop Cove. More than 30 students from Opelika High School went to camp in December 2009.
Team “O” 2010
About The LeadersAll of our leaders have participated in a 6-month training
period and are committed to specific standards of conduct.
A background check as well as a drivers assessment has
been conducted on each leader to help insure the safety of
you child. Our commitment is to constantly put qualified and trustworthy leaders on board to work with kids
here in east Alabama.
Summer CampNot only can students
experience Young Life camp for a few days in the fall, but
every year Opelika Young Life makes the journey to Colorado for week-long camp at Frontier Ranch.
This Young Life property in the mountains of Colorado offers a camp experience
where kids can spend time with their Young Life leader
and grow to more fully know Jesus while having the time
of their lives.

Young Life camping involves high adven-ture, lots of fun, great food and excellent
speakers who understand and respect high school and middle school kids.
ClubEvery Monday night!
Controlled chaos that’s almost impossible to describe. Before the party ends, we share a simple message about God’s love for them. After all, that’s
what the celebration is all about.
Campaigners
A weekly meeting for kids who wish to learn more or grow in their faith through study, service and leader-ship. Young Life leaders also encourage these kids to celebrate their faith through participation in a local
congregation.
