Week of J anuary 30, 2012The Williams School works with each child to build an enduring foundation

for academic, moral, and social success. Williams School students embody

integrity, confidence, discipline, and a love of learning.

    Dear Williams School Families,

Mapping the mission of the school was a conference that Tracey Braham and I attended this past

November. It got us wondering if there were places around our school where students, teachers and parents

did not feel the mission of the school. As a result of that conference, our lesson at this weeks assembly focused

on the mission of The Williams School. Upon hearing Chris Beck read the mission, students were quick to

respond and identify places where they felt the mission was at work. The Williams School grounds its mission in

    four key concepts:

o A child centered environmento Emphasis on integrity and responsibilityo An environment of learningo A partnership with parents

Middle school advisories have been tasked with an assignment to map the mission of the school. Eachmiddle school student will be given a map of the school facility. Students will then mark on the map where they

feel the mission of the school is present. Fifth grade students have also expressed an interest in this activity.

Faculty will be asked to map the mission of the school as well and parents are welcome to join in the fun. Just

stop by the front office to get your map.

In true keeping with our partnership with parents, we felt it only right to include a note that embodies that

relationship between the parents and school for the support of our children. Thank you to everyone who

continues to live the mission of The Williams School.

    Have a great weekend!

    Melanie

Dear Parents,I just wanted to take an opportunity to send you all a little note about the upcoming TWS AnnualAuction this is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, fundraising event that the school holds each yearand we need your help. The auction will be on Saturday, February 25th at the Town Point Club inNorfolk and the theme is London Calling. Last year was my and Helens first year attending and itwas really a great night out. Tickets cost $85 per person there are also several ways to support theevent as a sponsor or by buying one of the very cool hand painted (and personalized) LondonUnderground or Crown tiles. To purchase tickets, to buy one or more of the beautifully hand paintedtiles, or to become a sponsor, please go to the Whats New portion of the Schools website, or simplyclick here: http://www.thewilliamsschool.org/support-tws/auction.cfm.

The live auction this year will be much shorter than in previous years (only 15 items), and the rest of theauction items will be available on a highest bidder or buy it now basis. There will also be one specialitem that you can contribute to the school hopes to enclose our outside porch at the Humanities Centerso that it can be used as year-round classroom space this is a big money item, so every penny counts.A program listing all of the items to be auctioned will be made available ahead of the auction night.Information about the auction is appearing each week in the Broadcast should you have any questions.
