1. INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your purchase of a BrivisInverter Ducted Split System. For you to achievethe performance and efficiency expected fromyour new system, ensure the installer is aqualified tradesperson and that the installer hascommissioned the unit before you commenceoperation. Please take the time to read thecontents of these operating instructions carefully.

In some Australian States it is mandatory thatyour system installation is issued with acertificate of compliance to guarantee theinstallation workmanship. Please check with yourinstaller or the local plumbing authority orassociation. Brivis equipment is covered by thewarranty as outlined in this manual.Brivis products are renowned for providing yearsof trouble-free performance. However thatdoesn’t mean that they will operate at their peakfor all of that time without attention andmaintenance. To be at their most efficient, likemost things, they need a little care. So, to ensurethat every Brivis unit is always in perfect condition,we have established the Brivis Customer CareProgram for our valued customers.

The Brivis Customer Care Program provides youwith a maintenance service. This serviceincludes cleaning the unit and ensuring that thesystem is operating at maximum efficiency. Notonly does this guarantee peak performance, italso allows any minor problems to be detectedearly. This ensures that the system will alwaysbe ready when you need it.

2. PRIVACY NOTIFICATION

Brivis Climate Systems Pty Ltd is the registeredowner of the Brivis brand. Brivis ClimateSystems Pty Ltd will collect“personalinformation’’ from you when you complete yourwarranty and maintenance registration form.This personal information is collected under theguidance of the Privacy Information ProtectionAct 1998. The purpose of collecting thisinformation is to:

Process your request for us to provideservice activities for you.

Register your purchase of equipment forwarranty.

Register your request for asurvey/quotation for Heating VentilationAir Conditioning goods and services.

The intended recipients of the information are:

Employees of Brivis Climate Systems PtyLtd.

Federal and State Governments whomay require the information foradministration purposes.

While the supply of the information by you isvoluntary, if you cannot provide or do not wish toprovide the information sought, Brivis ClimateSystems Pty Ltd may not be able to provide theservices you request. If you have alreadyprovided information but have changed yourmind and do not want the information used, youmay make application for access or amendmentfor that information not to be used. You have aright of access to, and correction of, theinformation concerning yourself in accordancewith the relevant procedures under the Act.Enquiries concerning this matter can beaddressed to the Business Practices Officer ofBrivis Climate Systems Pty Ltd, who can becontacted on 1300 BRIVIS (1300 274847).

3. ELECTRICAL SUPPLY CORD

If the supply cord is damaged, it must bereplaced by Brivis, an authorised service agentor similarly qualified persons in order to avoid ahazard.

4. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

To prevent injury to the user or other people andproperty damage, the following instructions mustbe followed. Incorrect operation due to ignoringthese instructions may cause harm or damage.

The safety precautions listed here are dividedinto two categories. In either case, importantsafety information is listed, which must be readcarefully.

WARNING

Failure to observe a warning may result in injuryor in extreme circumstances death.

Failure to observe a caution may result in injuryor damage to the equipment.

In order to avoid electric shock, fire or injury, or ifyou detect any abnormality such as smell orsuspicion of fire, turn off the power supply andcall your dealer for assistance.

Do not let the indoor unit or the remote controllerget wet.

Do not press the button on the remote controllerwith hard, pointed objects.

Do not insert fingers, rods or other objects intothe air inlet or outlet. Never use flammableaerosols in close proximity of the unit.

Only to be uninstalled by a suitably qualifiedperson.

CAUTION___________________________________

Do not use the air conditioner for any purposeother than residential heating and cooling.

Before cleaning the equipment, switch off anddisconnect unit from power supply.

In order to avoid electric shock or fire, make surethat an earth leak detector is installed.

In order to avoid injury, do not remove the fanguard of the outdoor unit.

Do not operate the air conditioner with wethands.

Do not touch the heat exchanger fins, they aresharp and can be damaged easily.

Do not place items which might be damaged bymoisture under the indoor unit.

Arrange the condensate drain with appropriatefall to waste, and ensure it is kept clean.

Do not dismantle the controller.

Do not place anything or anyone on the outdoorunit.

Do not operate the air conditioner whenfumigating or cleaning a room with chemicals.

Do not expose open flame to the air flow fromthe unit or under the indoor unit.

The appliance is not intended for use by youngerchildren, mentally incapacitated, untrained orinfirmed persons.

Children should be supervised at all time whenthe appliance is in operation.

Do not install within close proximity of flammablematerials.

5. OPERATION AND PERFORMANCE

The system works under the following conditions

NOTE

1. If air conditioner is used outside the aboveconditions, it may function abnormally.

2. Ensure all exterior windows and doorsremain closed during cooling mode tooptimise performance and avoid internalcondensation.

Three-minute protection feature

A protection device prevents the system frombeing re-started for approximately 3 minutesimmediately after operation.

Power failure

If a power failure occurs during operation, theunit will stop completely. When power isrestored:

The OPERATION lamp on the indoor unitwill start flashing and indoor unit isplaced in standby mode for 3 minutesafter power is restored.

The air conditioner will auto-restart 3minutes after power is restored.

The unit will resume operation in themode it was operating in when the powerfailure occurred.

6. HINTS FOR ECONOMICAL OPERATION

The following should be noted to ensure aneconomical operation.

Adjust the air flow direction properly toavoid direct contact with any surface

During operation, close curtains/blindsand keep doors and windows closed, tooptimise performance and efficiency

Set the timer for the desired operatingtime (if applicable).

Never put obstructions near supply airoutlets or the supply air inlet

Filter must be cleaned regularly; failure toclean filters may void warranty.

Disconnect unit from power supply if notbeing used for long periods of time.

7. CLEANING AIR FILTER

If a return air filter is fitted in the return grille, itrequires regular cleaning and should be checkedevery fortnight.

8. TROUBLE SHOOTING – NON SYSTEM

Service calls can often be avoided, so beforeyou call for assistance, please check these itemsfirst if you feel your unit is not operating properly.

Symptom 1: Unit changes into fan mode duringcooling mode In order to prevent the indoor evaporator

coil icing up, the system may need tochange to fan mode. It will automaticallyreturn to cooling mode once this functionhas been performed.

When the room temperature reaches theset-point temperature the compressor willturn off, and the indoor unit changes tofan mode. When the room temperatureincreases above the set-pointtemperature, the compressor will startagain

Symptom 2: White mist appears out of vents ofthe Indoor unit Contact your dealer for details on

cleaning the unit. This requires aqualified service technician.

Symptom 3: Excessive Noise

Symptom 3.1: Indoor unit Expansion and contraction of internal

components caused by temperaturechange may result in noise.

Symptom 3.2: Indoor unit, outdoor unit A hissing sound is heard at unit start-up,

or immediately after stopping operationor defrost operation is normal.

Symptom 4: Dust blow from the unit vents Refer to cleaning air-filters

Symptom 5: The unit gives off odours As the system recirculates room air, it

may recirculate odours already present inthe room, like cigarette smoke, cookingsmells etc…

Symptom 6: The outdoor unit fan does notoperate. The speed of the fan is controlled by the

system to optimise efficiency.

9. TROUBLE SHOOTING - SYSTEM

If a system issue occurs, please turn the unit offand contact Brivis Service on 1300 BRIVIS(1300 274847) for assistance.
