I chose to help out at Little Indians for my first community service because I already knew most of the people there. Everyone is really nice and they truly appreciate any extra help they can get! The children’s ages range from three months to twelve years old.

After the March 1st tornado hit Baker County, my fellow Forestry queens and I got together and raised money and collected boxes of goods for the victims. We raised over 2,000 dollars! I really enjoyed spending time with my sister queens while supporting a good cause. I felt like we were really helping out in our community.

• Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

• While we were there, we lit candles for the ones that passed away. It was a lot of fun because there was a bunch of people to socialize with and plenty of things to do. They played music all night and held many different fun events!!

My Community Service Experience

• My Community service was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed helping other people while gaining nothing in return. It was a really good was to give back to my community and to realize how privileged I am. I especially enjoyed raising money for the Baker County victims because I knew I was really helping out.

• I think community service is really important because you never know when you may need the community to help you!
