Safety Review (Sustainability)
In terms of safety, what advancement has BP made?
Safety has been core part of our company’s success and has been more so after the
implementation of the OMS (operating management system).
The OMS consists of various precise and proven processes for the risk reduction and
pushing towards the improvement.
This means implementation is 80% complete and injury rates have come down
around 75% in the past decade.
“However, still we have a lot to do.”
In April 2009, 16 coworkers died in a helicopter accident when they are flying back from
North Sea task and BP will closely monitor the investigators and make sure that the
helicopter industry learns lessons from this incident.
