BRITISH DRESSAGE ASSOCIATION MEMBERS INSURANCE SUMMARY

This is a summary of the indemnity provided by the British Dressage Insurance cover for members. This document does not contain the full policy definitions, exclusions, terms and conditions which are available on request.

PERSONAL PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

Cover is provided in respect of third party liability for Members of British Dressage to pay compensation including legal costs for:

• Accidental death or personal injury to any person excluding employees• Accidental loss or damage to third party material property

Arising out of the Member’s use and/or ownership and/or control of Horse(s) or Horse drawn vehicle(s) and direct participation by the insured in other Horse related activities including Dressage and or taking part in shows. Cover is subject to negligence/legal liability for incidents caused by a fully subscribed and paid up member of British Dressage. The duration of this non-investment insurance contract is the date of initial membership of British dressage and annually on the 1st July thereafter.

NAME OF THE INSURER(S)

The primary level of public liability cover (£10,000,000) provided under the policy is underwritten by DTW1991 Underwriting Limited a Lloyds Syndicate. The excess layer public liability cover (£20,000,000) is underwritten by AmTrust Europe Limited and Amlin Insurance PLC. All insurers are authorised and registered by the Financial Conduct Authority. This primary liability policy is underwritten by DTW1991 Lloyds Syndicate. They can be contacted at: DTW1991 Underwriting Limited (No. 08330551), 130 Fenchurch Street, London EC3M 5DJ

EXCESS

The deductible excess under this policy for third party property damage claims is £500 each & every claim.

LIMIT OF INDEMNITY

• £30,000,000 limit of indemnity in respect of any one claim, unlimited in respect of all claims occurring during the period of insurance.

STANDARD EXTENSIONS INCLUDE

There are a number of cover extensions including:

1. Grooms Indemnity – cover for any groom engaged in working for an insured member in their work involving the insured horse.

2. Extended Indemnity – cover for other riders when using the insured member’s horse with their express prior permission.

3. Associate Member Limitation – cover is only provided to associate members when competing in affiliated competition only.

The above extensions 1 & 2 shall not cover liability that arises out of the above where a fee has been charged and where such use is in connection with any business.

SIGNIFICANT OR UNUSUAL EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS

The policy document contains a number of exclusions and other limitations. The more significant exclusions applying that will bar any payment are listed below:

1. North America – bodily injury, personal injury, damage or denial of access within North America is excluded.

2. Professional and Business Activities – cover excludes bodily injury, personal injury, damage or denial of access arising out of or from equine activities or related equine activities when undertaken as a professional or being undertaken as part of the insured members business or occupation, irrespective of whether a fee is charged or not including supervision of other riders.

3. Insured Members Family – cover excludes bodily injury or personal injury to any person who is part of the insured member’s family or household.

4. The first £500 of any claim for third party property damage.

5. If indemnity is available under any other insurance, then the insurance afforded by this policy will be in excess of and will not contribute with such other insurance.

YOUR RIGHT TO CANCEL

This is a group policy provided by British Dressage and forming part of your membership benefits. As such there is no right of cancellation for you as a member under this policy should you decide that you do not need or require any of the cover provided.

RENEWING YOUR POLICY

If Underwriters are willing to invite renewal of the policy, Insurers via Shearwater Insurance Services will advise the Association in good time before the expiry of the current policy term, providing the premium terms & conditions which will apply for the following year.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

Shearwater is dedicated to providing you with a high quality service and we want to ensure that we maintain this at all times. If you feel we have not offered you a first class service please write and tell us and we will do our best to resolve the problem..

If in the unlikely event that we are unable to resolve the situation and you wish to make a complaint you can do so at any time by referring matters to:

Whilst reviewing your complaint Your Insurer will:

• Acknowledge Your complaint promptly• Investigate Your complaint quickly and thoroughly• Keep You informed of the progress of your complaint• Do everything possible to resolve Your complaint

Your Insurer is obliged to provide You with a written offer of resolution within 8 weeks of the date Your complaint was received.

Following these steps; in the event that this matter is still not resolved to your satisfaction you can, if you wish, refer the matter to The Financial Ombudsman Service at the following address: The Financial Ombudsman Service, Exchange Tower, Harbour Exchange Square London E14 9GE

Making a complaint will not affect your rights to take legal proceedings.

PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE

This is a summary of the cover and does not contain all of the terms and conditions of your Policy, which can be found in the policy document, a copy of which is available upon request. Please take time to make sure you understand the cover it provides. Cover is underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Plc. (RSA)

FEATURES & BENEFITS

PROVIDES COVER FOR ACCIDENTAL DEATH, LOSS OF LIMB OR SIGHT AND PERMANENT DISABLEMENT ONLY AS A CONSEQUENCE OF:

A. Horse related accidents other than whilst attending an organised equestrian event as defined in B below

B. Horse related activities while attending any event or official practice/ training session organised by or affiliated to British Dressage, BHDTA, BHS, BSJA, Pony Club, BHS, Riding Clubs, BE, EGB, BEV or FEI

Up to a maximum of £5,000 in respect of A and £10,000 in respect of B.Accidental death is limited to £5,000 in respect of persons up to the age of 16.

SIGNIFICANT OR UNUSUAL EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITS

This section does not cover injury arising from:

• Committing or attempting to commit suicide or as a result of self inflicted injury

• Any naturally occurring condition or degenerative process

• Any gradually operating process

• Post traumatic stress disorder or any psychological or psychiatric condition (not resulting from bodily injury following an accident)

• Radioactive contamination whether arising directly or indirectly

• War or Terrorism occasioned by any Nuclear, Chemical or Biological cause..PERIOD OF INSURANCE

The insurance cover shall apply from 1st July to 30th June until notification of change but is subject to the renewal of the master insurance policy and any revised items that such renewal may contain.

POLICY CANCELLATION

This is a group policy provided by British Dressage and forming part of your membership benefits. As such there is no right of cancellation for you as a member under this policy should you decide that you do not need or require any of the cover provided.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

Shearwater aim to provide you with a first class service, if you feel that you have not received the service you expect or you are concerned with the service provided, we would like the opportunity to put things right. Please raise your concerns with Shearwater, write and tell us and we will do our best to resolve the problem.

In the unlikely event that this matter is still unresolved, you can escalate your complaint to RSA’s Customer Services Relations Office at Customer Relations Office, RSA, Bowling Mill, Dean Clough Industrial Estate, Halifax, HX3 5WA.

Following these steps; in the event that this matter is still not resolved to your satisfaction you can, if you wish, refer the matter to The Financial Ombudsman Service at the following address:
