The Bethel Folk Ensemble will present a concert of Frontier Songs. This is the music early settlers played and sang. It includes songs about love, home, work, and gospel. They have a variety of instruments including mountain dulcimers, hammered dulcimer, banjo, guitar, and auto harps. Most of the music will be familiar and the audience will be invited to sing along.

Do you know of the mystery, intrigue and sibling rivalry that is hidden inside an Ameri-can Kestrel nest box? Have you ever seen Great Horned owlets watch geese fly over, or watched Barred owl nesting behavior? Join us and see these and other bird behav-iors. Rosemary grew up in Baltimore, Ohio, and worked as a registered nurse, for 35 years, at the Ohio State University Hospital. Tom grew up in Stow and then Westerville, Ohio, and was an engineer at ABB in Columbus for 30 years. Both retied in 2010. They got started inwildlife videography in 2005 when a Great Horned owl nested near St. Ann's hospital in Westerville. Trial and error with equipment and technique over the next 5 years, finally yielded satisfactory results in 2010. They presently have about 35 movies for presentation, and many more hours of archived video. They are continuing to search for subjects and leads, preferably to nesting birds (because they hold still).

Anne Hart Kiphen, vocals; Michael Tobar, piano; Nick Weiland, upright bass

The American Songbook Trio is the union of musicians who share a love of the great composers of American music: George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and Hoagy Carmichael among others.Anne gives a bit of background and a fresh vocal interpretation of each song. Michael and Nick provide a rich harmonic setting of piano and upright bass for Anne’s smooth vocals. The result is a delightful delivery of some of the greatest popular music ever written.

Anne, who comes from a musical family, began her vocal performance career as a young girl. She discovered folk music in the sixties, performing mostly in Chicago. For the past 40 years she has sung in a folk music trio, small dance bands, and big bands. Anne is the mother of singer-songwriter, Grammy nominee, Sarah Hart.

Michael is a veteran performer, composer and arranger. Self-taught on piano, he plays classic jazz styles of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. His influences were James P. Johnson, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, and Thelonius Monk.

Nick was born and raised in Lancaster and arrived at jazz on upright bass after playing drums in a 60’s garage band, electric bass in a Led Zepplin cover band and 12-string guitar in a folk trio. What could be next?

I enjoy playing bluegrass, classiccountry, folk, gospel, and mountain music as an acoustic performer. Although my pas-sion is acoustic music, I do play electric guitar as well. I also perform rock, pop andeasy listening tunes.

I have a rich musical heritage. I have played guitar since I was nine years old. I playedguitar in the Chillicothe High School orchestra and jazz band. My mom, JeanneWilliams, opened for some of the biggest names in country music in the 1970's. Sheowned Sam's Place in Chillicothe, Ohio and I learned how to play guitar literally at thefeet of some of the best musicians (country and rock) in Ohio. I have been aroundmusic for as long as I can remember.

The "Huffman Prairie Winds" woodwind quintet is one of three classical chamberensembles within the United States Air Force Band of Flight. Named for the

nearby historic plain where the Wright Brothers conducted many of their earlyaviation experiments, the quintet was founded in 1984 and utilizes members of

the concert band. The current members are Technical Sergeant MichaelEakin, bassoon; Staff Sergeant Beth Honaker, flute; Staff Sergeant VJ Russell,

horn; Staff Sergeant Jennifer Kost, oboe; and Staff Sergeant Mary Fessner-Tarjanyi, clarinet and non-commissioned officer in charge.

These five active duty Air Force members perform a wide variety of music,ranging from the traditional classical repertoire to show tunes and ragtime. Theirversatility enables them to please audiences in many different settings, including

social functions for military and civilian dignitaries, high school and collegeperformance clinics, and formal evening recitals. The Huffman Prairie Winds

released a recording , Blue Skies, in December of 1994.

Two monumental, life-changing events in Christopher Milo’s life caused him to take God’s call for his life seriously. “In November of 1992, I was working for a local lumber company. I blew out my back and was paralyzed for six months and three days. They told me I would never walk again.”

Milo, a nationally-recognized concert pianist, was told that he would never sit on a piano bench again.

“I remember lying in bed staring at the ceiling, trying to make deals with God,” Milo said. “‘God, listenhere pal, if you could make this little arrangement with me, I promise to do something good with my music.’” Milo started to get feeling in his feet, he said. “I never had surgery. I had a year and half of therapy and had to learn to walk all over again, but they did tell me I would never walk again.”

Almost 10 years later in 2008, Milo’s now seven-year-old son Nicholas was being tested for leukemia.

“You just don’t think that something like that will happen to your own child,” he said. “It was terrible.”

At that moment, Milo sat down and wrote the song ‘Side by Side.’

Christopher now uses his talent to inspire and support people through CM Productions.
