E ManBA (Hons.) GRAPHIC DESIGN LEVEL 06 Module Code OUGD30 Semester Module Title Doc. Code OUGD303 BRIEF TITLE: LCA BA PHOTOGRAPHY YEARBOOK (Collaboration) Brief To design the Leeds College of art BA Photography yearbook for a professional print process. Each course at LCA has its own yearbook produced for the end of year show displaying course details and each student with examples of their work. The publication must be designed to showcase the work and not the design of the book itself. The yearbook must also give a good and clear impression of the course itself. Background / Considerations The design should be showing off the students work within the book. The design should work with a concept but generally should let the work speak for itself. By the design not saying a lot, it says a lot about how well the design is working. In a way, the yearbook is like a portable gallery of work. Galleries are usually relatively plain places that let the work be seen. This is a good stating point for where to begin with the yearbook. A good deal of development will count on a strong dialogue with the BA Photography department at LCA. We will need them to generate content for the book for us once we have decided what content we need for the book. Clarity of communication is essential. Mandatory Requirements Deliverables All research and development should be recorded on Design Practice and Design Context blogs. Mandatory details will be discussed with course leader Adrian Davies. 1x fully designed yearbook of (-) pages ready for printing. Promotional material for end of year show. Studio Deadline Module Deadline 30 th May 2012 This brief should be read in conjunction with the module brief.
