TAX-WISE PLANNING AT YEAR’S END Have you taken the opportunity to look at your taxes for this year? You might be surprised at how much of your hard-earned money will go to the state and federal government. Now is the time to consider making an end-of-year gift that will help offset your current tax liability.

DEDUCTIBLE GIFT OF STOCK OR PROPERTY There are a number of ways to make an end-of-year gift that provide you with valuable benefits and help further our mission here at IHM.

If you own appreciated stock or have property that you wish to sell without paying capital gains tax, consider gifting those assets to us. You receive a charitable tax deduction for your gift. Please check with us on ways to transfer your property gift or stock to us .

YEAR-END REMINDERS Thank you in advance for your generous support of our annual Christmas collec-tion which provides a significant portion of the funds used all year long to support our many ministries and programs. This is the single most important collection of the year for the operations of Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Remember the December 31 deadline for charitable gift tax deductions. Contact Rich Plachta at 404-636-1418 ext 245 or [email protected] for information on how to transfer stock or other assets. Checks postmarked in 2018, but delivered in 2019, can be claimed as a deduction in 2018. Statements of contributions to IHM for 2018, which many use for tax preparation, will be mailed by the end of January. Archbishop’s Annual Appeal statements will be sent separately by the Archdiocese.

GIVE BY TEXT! You can now make a contribution to IHM with a quick text message! Simply send a text to 888-418-5704. In the message just indicate the amount you would like to contribute. (Make sure to include the dollar sign before the amount. Example: $25.) Within a few minutes, you’ll be sent a text with a link to register. Click on the link and enter your cardholder name and credit or debit card information. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a text verification and a receipt via email. For future giving, simply send a text with the amount you wish to give, and it will process automatically!

THE CHRISTMAS CONCERT January 10 Our parish Music Ministry will offer a Christmas Concert on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the church. For Catholics, the Christmas season contin-ues into the new year—long after our neighbors have taken down their lights and mulched their trees! Keep Christmas alive in your heart as we celebrate the mystery of the Incar-nation in song. A reception and sing-along will follow in the historic church.

HANGING OF THE GREENS Hanging of the Greens will take place this Monday, Decem-ber 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and finishing before 9:00. Come for all of it, or just part of it. After you are done, treat yourself to some hot chocolate, coffee and cookies as treats. It’s guaranteed to be a night that helps you get into the Christmas spirit and a night that reminds us all of the im-portance of giving. We hope you and your family can help prepare our church home for our celebration of the birth of Christ!

Blessed are you, Lord our God, Before whom all the trees of the forest sing for joy,

For you have come to rule the earth and all its peoples In your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

By his death on the cross and his rising in glory, The tree of our defeat has become our tree of victory,

and the pure light of Christ forever gladdens our waiting world.

We ask you to send your blessing upon this tree, Which we have decorated in honor of your Son’s birth.

Let it help us to celebrate this holy season As living branches of him,

And bear the fruit of good works for your glory, This day and every day,

Both now and forever. Amen.
