Our Topic

Our topic is about how the NFL contributes to breast cancer awareness.

Why is it important?

It is important 1 out of 4 women have it, and there is no cure for this horrible disease. Also, it shows how much the NFL cares and donates to finding a cure. In 2011, an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 57,650 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer.

What the NFL does

The NFl does many things To support breast cancer. They use Game balls with pink ribbon decals for every down.

The Players

The players wear pink cleats, wristbands, gloves, chin straps, sideline caps, helmet decals, eye shield decals, captains’ patches, sideline towels and quarterback towels.

The Referee

The officials wear caps with pink ribbons, pink wristbands, pink pins, and they use pink whistles. They also use pink coins for coin toss.

Coaches and Managers

The coaches and managers wear pink hats and they have pink ribbons on them

On the field

On the field they have pink goal post padding in the end zones. And the field has the breast cancer awareness symbol

Breast cancer in general

Breast cancer takes the lives of over 250,000 people. The NFL donates money to breast cancer awareness

The Cure

The reason breast cancer awareness is so important to the NFL is because they know many women are diagnosed and killed every year. They use the money donated from the NFL to help find a cure

The Bears contribution

For the 3rd straight year the Chicago Bears are recognizing breast cancer awareness. Special "Real Bears Fans Wear Pink" t-shirts have generated $80,000 in sales. Proceeds support breast cancer research and treatment programs in Chicago area. The Bears also honored a breast cancer survivor and worked with Zeta Tau Alpha(ΖΤΑ)to pass out pink ribbons during the Sept. 28 game.

The Saints Contribution

The Saints sponsor the local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and LB Scott Fujita taped a PSA for the race

All teams

All the teams in the NFL use the money they get from their online shop in the month of October and the money from the shop goes toward the cure.

Knowing About Breast Cancer Awareness

By learning about breast cancer awareness, and how the NFL contributes maybe you could come up with new ideas of how to help for research.

All of us together

By us doing something about breast cancer along with the NFL and the other foundations helping with research and the cure we can find the cure faster, and that is the point we are really trying to get out

Our Goal

The goal of teaching you all this is to get people involved for raising money to research. Also, to show what the NFL does to contribute to research and awareness. Finally, to show what the Bears and Saints do.
