How to Select ShadesA shade option may be specified with the modelnumber when ordering fixtures from theContinental Collection.

When selecting shades, it is important that theshade fitter size matches the fixture’s shade holder.A fitter is the lip of the shade that inserts into afixture’s shade holder. Each shade model num-ber starts with a letter to help you match theshade’s fitter to the fixture’s shade holder.

‘A’ = 2-1/4” fitter

‘B’ = 3-1/4” fitter

‘C’ = 4-1/4” fitter

‘D’ = 6-1/4” fitter

‘E’ = torpedo bulb clip-on

How to order a FixtureTo order a Carlton Stem Mount (page 24) with a 30inch overall length in Brushed Nickel with an A161Opal Satine English Bell Shade, specify as follows:

Wattage Limitations on Alabaster Cup ShadesFor fixtures using alabaster cup shades, we rec-ommend using 40 watt medium base candle-stylebulbs if fixtures remain illuminated for long periodsof time. Alabaster cup shades may only be usedon fixtures mounted facing up.

Wattage Limitations on Fabric ShadesThe size and type of fabric shade you use with anelectric candle fixture may change the maximumrecommended wattage. All 4” diameter shadesuse 40 watts maximum; most 5” and 6” diame-ter shades use 60 watts maximum; most 9” diam-eter shades use 100 watts maximum.

How to Determine Overall Lengths (OAL) for Ceiling FixturesMost Brass Light Gallery ceiling fixtures are availablein any overall length. To determine the correctoverall length (OAL), measure the overall distancefrom ceiling to the bottom of fixture as shown,below. (Measurements in full inches only; no frac-tions.)

The height listed for flush ceilingfixtures in the ContinentalCollection is for the fixture withthe shade as shown in each corre-sponding photograph; othershade choices may vary the overall height.

Choosing Fixture Lengths Over Tables and IslandsChoosing the correct fixture length over a table orkitchen island is not an exact science. Variablessuch as ceiling height, table or island dimensions,size and type of fixture, and personal preferencecan all affect the length best suited for yourneeds. Generally, we recommend the following:

Tables:The bottom of the fixture should hang approxi-mately 60”-66” above the floor.

Islands:The bottom of the fixture should hang approxi-mately 68”-76” above the floor.

In our travels to find new lighting ideas we discovered a graceful 1920’s chan-delier in a rural Belgian shop near northern France. Shown here is our repro-duction of that original, named after the Belgian city of Bruges. NationalGeographic once called Bruges “the Venice of the North”, in tribute to its beau-tiful canals and historic architecture.

Saratoga Chandelier

Saratoga ChandeliersOne of our largest chandeliers, the Saratoga pro-vides the extra scale needed for many residentialand commercial interiors. Use the single-tier overlarger tables and in spaces with moderate to tallceilings. The two-tier can be used in spaces withvery tall ceilings such as entry foyers and great rooms.

We provide two design options with this chandelier:the Saratoga Classical and the Saratoga Smooth. TheClassical has sculpted details including a cast brassleaf canopy, matching center body leaves, and acornfinial. For less formal interiors, the Saratoga Smoothoffers a clean, simple design.
