It’s time again for the Friends of the
Peace Dale Library’s Fall Book and Bake
Sale! Find great bargains on books,
movies, and more; plus delicious home-
made baked good. All proceeds benefit the Friends, who
support the Peace Dale Library’s programming and other
initiatives for children, teens, and adults.

All are welcome to join the Friends
of the Robert Beverly Hale Library
for their annual meeting. Member-
ship is open to all, with a common
goal of seeing our library grow and
expand. The Friends support
programming for all ages, craft and storytime supplies, and
the purchase of special library materials. The Annual Fund
Drive takes place after the Annual Meeting, held each year
in October. Tax deductible contributions can be mailed or
dropped off at the library.
JAZZ IN THE AFTERNOON WITH KIM MARCOUX

Join us for an afternoon with the Kim
Marcoux Quartet. Kim’s warm and viva-
cious personality and her rich contralto
voice render old favorites and new sur-
prises in jazz rhythms, accompanied on

Join us as Dr. Michael Fine, discusses his
new book, Health Care Revolt. Dr. Fine is a
writer, community organizer, and family
physician. He is the chief health strategist
for the City of Central Falls and Senior Clin-
ical and Population Health Services Officer
for the Blackstone Valley Community
Health Care, Inc. He also served as the Di-
rector of the RI Department of Health from 2011-2015.
Health Care Revolt looks around the world for health care
systems that are effective and affordable, pictures such a
system for the US, and creates a practical playbook for a
political revolution in health care that will allow the nation
to protect health while strengthening democracy. Registra-

A READABLE FEAST: A COOKBOOK BOOK GROUP

Island’s Recent Archeological
Contributions to Understand-
ing Rhode Island’s Native
American Past
Block Island is Rhode Island’s
largest offshore island. Native Americans routinely visited
the popular destination spot then known as Manisses for
more than 6,000 years. Rhode Island archeologist Jay Wal-
ler will discuss the results of recent archaeological investi-
gations at two Block Island Native American sites excavated
during the construction for the Block Island Wind Farm.
This talk is hosted by the South County History Center and
the Kingston Free Library as part of Rhode Island Archeolo-
gy Month, sponsored by the Rhode Island Historical Preser-

week teen-led program for
grades 8-12! A local teen volunteer will explain everything
you need to know to get started:
Week 1: Character Building
Week 2: Rules of the Game and Intro
Weeks 3-6: Game Play
