Regional Men’s Conference featuring Dr. Johnny Hunt. “Hang in there” The life of Job H o s t e d b y W e s t w o o d Baptist Church January 26-27 Friday: 7:00-10:00 pm Saturday 7:00 am-10:30. A word from Pastor Hunt: Greetings Friends in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Oh How I look forward to seeing you at Hang in There! We will take a long look at a “whatever it takes kind of guy” named Job. The bible documents that God said of Job he was blameless, upright; he feared God and shunned evil. Pretty good resume, huh! Job’s life is an amazing Hang in There story. There is so much to learn from his encounters with loss, pain, bad counsel from family and friends and intimate conversations with God. When it was all said and done, the bible records Job was a Hang in There kind of guy. Job 42 records the Lord accepted his prayer and blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first. Until then… Hang in There!
Johnny M. Hunt Sr. Pastor, First Baptist Woodstock Conference fee: $35

MINISTERING IN OUR JERUSALEM
A Legacy of Love was the theme for the annual Pastor’s Appreciation Celebration. The event was marked by a record turnout and wonderful entertainment. The Birdsong Family ministered across the spectrum of musical genres and transparently brought the gathering into worship. A special note of appreciation to all the Youth Pastors who participated in the unique version of Rudolph. A wonderful meal was prepared by Bobby Dye and volunteers. It was served Banquet style with coffee, tea and desert served by the many volunteer youth from our association. Our youth, many serving for the first time, worked steadily as they kept the drinks filled and assisted in anything asked of them. One youth even volunteered for next years celebration. (cont. on pg 4)

Last month I shared a brief reference about a revival at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church in LaFollette, TN. The
revival services concluded on November 30 after a 40-consecutive-day run of God’s presence being poured out on this precious church. Since the nightly services have closed, God has now been bringing a great harvest of people being saved. It’s like God waited to bring in the harvest after the people of God got their hearts and minds clean with Him. The Bible is preeminently a book about hope. It affirms that almighty God is at work within history to bring forth a future by which all things will be made new. In fact, Christ summons us to become co-laborers with Him in birthing this new order in our lives, our communities, and in the larger world. Here’s how Scripture describes the hope of the gospel: “For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth” Col. 1:5-6 (KJV). The hope of the gospel has been shown in the early beginnings of God birthing a new order in the lives of those attending the 40 day revival. Being so close to Pastor Mark
Partin, and knowing his church over the past 14 years, has caused me to personally evaluate how we approach revival services, and what we tend to expect or not expect. I have learned the truth that revival is something that comes from outside our resources, our ingenuity, and our control. It is something God must do for us, something that God brings to us out of grace. Revival is an extraordinary work of the Spirit that invades the church to reenergize us with God’s eternal purposes in Christ Jesus. For 40 days, nothing else mattered to the people of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. What happened with these people was not an emotional touch; it was a complete takeover. Revivalist G. Campbell Morgan, an associate of D. L. Moody, said, "We cannot organize revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from heaven . . . ." Sailboats are powerless. In and of themselves, they can only claim the title of organized driftwood. They have no engine, no motor, and no oarsmen. Such a boat is useless in itself. But now raise the sail. Suddenly a wake appears behind the vessel, and it picks up speed. The stronger the wind, the faster the sailboat can move. The sailboat is completely dependent upon the wind for its progress. Notice that a sailboat is designed to harness the wind. It would be foolish for such a craft to claim independence, to seek passage across the waters on its own. Inevitably it would end up drifting in the doldrums of defeat or dashed
against the rocks of discouragement. Sailboats must yield themselves to the power of the wind. The Holy Spirit is the "wind" of revival. Peter and John sensed that wind was blowing in the temple courts of Jerusalem, so they took action. They raised the sails, depending on God to provide the breeze. We, too, need to raise our sails to catch the heavenly winds that will renew, refresh, and awaken the church of our day. I am thirsty to see something similar happen in Bradley County. Are you?
