ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Bedheads

Back of BedheadFully upholstered in BQ ivory cotton providing a neat appearance and concealing fabric turnings and piping tails.

Base Cut-outStandard with no cut-out. Optional cut-out applicable to Order Code BH3, 4 and 5 to allow for power points.

Buttons2cm diameter.

Positioning, unless otherwise requested:

First row 20cm down from the top edge

Second row 20cm down from first row

SB 2 buttons across per row, 30cm apart

KSB 4 buttons across per row, 30cm apart

DB 4 buttons across per row, 30cm apart

QS 4 buttons across per row, 30cm apart

KS 5 buttons across per row, 30cm apart

Non standard height – the same will apply, unless otherwise requested.

ConstructionTimber used is Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF). High density foam is covered with 200 gram polyester, providing a soft, padded effect.

InterliningRecommended for silks and lightweight fabrics. This process avoids discolouration of fabrics. The ivory cotton lining behind gives a truer colour and reduces darkening at the seams when fabric cannot be railroaded.

Mounting BracketOrder Codes BH3, 4 and 5 are designed to be set on the floor or mounted above the skirting. A mounting bracket is supplied for the bedhead to be attached to the wall.

Order Code BH1 is designed to be mounted on the wall so that the base of the bedhead is level with the top of the mattress. The mounting bracket is inset into the back of the framework so the bedhead sits flush with the wall.

Railroading FabricWhen fabric is non-directional, we recommend turning the fabric to avoid seams. Even where grain direction is visible, we believe the product is more pleasant to the eye when seams are avoided.

Roll Sizes90mm or 125mm. 90mm is used on single bed size and 125mm on all other sizes unless otherwise requested.

ScotchgardTM Protector (“Scotchgard” is a trademark of the 3M Company) Repels spills and stains to keep furnishing items clean and looking new for longer.

ShapesAre a guideline – we can manufacture different shapes to templates provided.

StudsSuggested for added interest on rolled edge style Order Code BH3 and applied at the join of the roll to the centre insert (in lieu of piping). Studs are also applied to the edges of BH4 and BH5 syles. BQ Design stock some finishes, otherwise studs can be coupled with fabric.

LiningPre-shrunk ivory cotton.

Quilting DesignsFrame Quilting – Fabric is joined prior to quilting, thus providing perfect pattern match and quilt match, however, joins will be exposed. Due to restrictions on the size of the frame, some king size styles cannot be accommodated – we suggest multi-needle channel quilting. Frame Quilting designs in this catalogue are those which we currently have set up on our machine. We would welcome other designs with consideration to adding these to our standard range.

Multi-needle Channel Quilting – Fabric is quilted prior to joining. Joins will occur in a channel stitch concealing the join, however we are unable to obtain perfect pattern match on printed designs. We request that you simply specify narrow channels (7.5, 10 or 12.5cm) or wide channels (15, 17.5, 20 or 22.5cm) and BQ Design will choose the most appropriate width to suit the horizontal pattern repeat. Channel quilting is not suitable for linear patterns as quilting cannot follow on the stripe. We recommend Outline Quilting of plaids, checks and stripes, or alternatively, Frame Quilting. Thread colour – black or natural; BQ Design will select the most suitable.

Outline Quilting – Outline florals (traces the design on patterned florals – suitable for continuous stitching patterns only), plaids and checks. Outline Channels – recommended for striped fabrics. All outline quilting threads are colour matched to background colour.

Reverse Sham80-85cm length is standard. BQ Design recommends 100cm for double pillows.

Split CornersTo accommodate bed ends. Can be applied to throwover styles, whereby splits are concealed within the bell corners or tailored corner styles. These have several options: Split flaps, short flaps or no flaps/partly sewn down (to bracket connection point). See also “How to Measure”.

BedspreadsAll bedspread styles are interchangeable with quilting designs. Unquilted bedspreads are not recommended as they are prone to creasing and do not retain their shape after laundering. We suggest using bumph or 70 gram filling with a wide channel quilting e.g. 22.5cm, which gives a semi-quilted effect.

Filling100 gram is standard.

70 gram is recommended if lightweight option is required.

150 gram gives a lusher, puffier effect, but consideration should be given to the extra weight of the bedspread.

Bumph filling provides a soft, flat, unquilted look.Multi-Needle Quilting Machine

Wall Panels

Mounting Brackets Inset into the back of the framework so the wall panel sits flush with the wall. Covered with 200 gram polyester filling and fully upholstered, these slimline wall panels are lightweight and an effective alternative to bedheads or a stand-alone option.

Bedspread

1. Place pin on each side edge. Measure pin to pin = width

2. Place pin at head and foot. Measure pin to pin = length.

3. Measure pin 1 to floor = drop. Rolled edge style: add approx. 4cm to

drop measurement if roll is required to lay on floor

Cap

1. Step 1 and 2 as for bedspread.

3. Measure pin 1 to lower edge of mattress.

Add min. 10cm/max. 15cm to measurement i.e. mattress thickness plus

10cm/15cm = cap drop. (Cap should hang at least half way down the side

of the bed.)

Bed Valances

1. Step 1 and 2 as for bedspread.

3. Measure top edge of base to floor = valance drop.

Split Corners

If split corners are required for bed posts, measurements required:

1. Between brackets at attachment point.

2. Floor up to bracket.

N.B. For rolled edge style: if extra has been added for roll to lay on floor,

this allowance must be added to measurement 2

HOW TO MEASURE

1. Distance between splits

2. Distance up from floor
